We'll be honest, it takes a whole lot to get us excited about
iPhone / iPod docks or
digital picture frames these days, but congratulations Sony, you've managed to pierce through our hardened hearts with the ICF-CL75iP Dream Machine.
Sony Insider brings word of the actually quite handsome bedside attraction, an assimilation of those aforementioned products with an alarm clock to boot. We're looking at a 7-inch WVGA LCD screen, 1GB built-in memory, FM / AM radio, and a retractable dock -- in case you don't feel like capitalizing on the total synergistic package. Photos can be pulled directly from the Apple handheld or loaded via USB, and your wake-up options include built-in presets, a customizable 10-second voice recording, or the iPod / iPhone itself. Our only knock at this point is the minimal codec support -- MP3 and WMA for audio, and MP4, M-JPEG, and AVI for video -- but if the $149.95 price on a cached SonyStyle listing stays accurate, we can be a little forgiving. In fact, throw in Chumby widget support and we'll be downright smitten -- make it happen, Sony.
Update: Turns out it's actually up for pre-order right now through
Sony Style Canada, CAN $199.99 (that's US $180) and shipping out October 1st.
[Thanks, Neil!]

Sony has made the best line of alarm clocks ever. The Dream Machines were great. I finally traded mine in for an ihome dock so I could have easy music in my bedroom. If this play video decently and includes the "nap" button, I may have to give in despite my better judgment.
This thing looks awesome! i just wish they'd make it for universal mp3 players not just ipods i don't own an ipod and don't plan on owning one!
Why didn't they provide a docking port for sony ericsson phones as well like for X2, Satio or Aino,
Is Sony admitting i-phones deserve it better than their SE phones?
After 18 years, I will finally be replacing my old sony clock radio with this. Bravo Sony. Looks AWESOME! Now if it for some reason doesnt charge the iphone, I'll be pissed.
The Sony website says it charges iPod/iPhone.
What? No DAB radio?
Hmm, maybe the next generation of this with internet radio, (capacitive, it's better for this type of device) touchscreen, PS3 remote play and more attractive stuff like that.
Can I get this without the crappy Ipod dock?
The iPod dock is retractable... Just don't use it.
I hope they put a dimmer on this. Because I cant sleep next to my current sony alarm clock - like a lightbulb
Did you read the specs?
Day/Night Function
4 Steps brightness control (Hi, Mid, Lo, Night Mode)
I'm waiting for the new logitech squeezebox which will cost twice as much but will be 10x more functional...

anybody else notice that the Canadian Sony Style store didn't list it as compatible with the 3GS? Only 3G and "iPhone". I really hope this isn't the case...
Just have been to IFA and touched it. I am a Sony lover, like most things Sony is producing. When I saw this post, I was quite familiar with the text..."all in one hardware"... Well it unfortunately felt quite cheap. The iPhone doch felt most cheap, you can push it out, but the construction is a bit unstable. The buttons had a good pressure point and the LCD looked nice. The features of this piece are really nice (sound recording, FM Radio, Pic frame etc.). But the Sound is not really good as well. Lets see if this is final product (guess it is), or quality will improve at least a bit. All in all I liked it anyway, because I like Sony and I like this all in one combo. And the price is quite nice.
This is now officially on the Sony Style USA website:

I bought this frame yesterday at BestBuy... overall is is nice... sounds great and the pictures look great. I only have six issues, You see the frame comes with six sample photos that can not be removed and they play during the slideshow..... I dont really want to have pictures of a duck, yellow and green bell peppers, some leaves, a mountain, some flowers and last but not least a child that is not mine showing! I am currently talking to Sony via their online chat and they are saying that the file are protected. So far they don't seem to think that it is all that big an issue. In truth it may not be but even the cheapest frames that you get now let you chose what pics play during the show. Sony better hurry up and push out a firmware update or this thing is going back to the store.
I just got one ar Best Buy. When I use it with my iphone 3GS I lose my network cell connection. When I unplug the iphone and move it away from the clock I have a 4 bar 3G connection. Tried moving it around the room and get the same results. Interference? It is going back to the store.
I just picked one of these up and am really happy. For a long time, I've been looking for an Alarm Clock with these features:
Big numbers I can read w/o my eyeglasses
Two alarms that always display if they are set and what the alarm time is (so I don't wake up in the middle of the night worried that I forgot to set it).
Alarms can be set to only go on off on weekdays (workdays for me).
Dedicated controls to set alarms (since I have to change my wakeup times frequently).
Programable snooze time that displays when it's been activated.
Wake-up to audio files
This guy had everything on my list and a lot more. I do own a iPhone and iPod Touch but I don't expect to use either (I just put the music I want on my clock on a SD card in the clock). It's way overpriced, for $150 it should probably have wifi and internet radio/weather/etc.... but I'm happy anyway.
Note: the bright LCD doesn't bother me, but it will be too bright for many sleepers... it has a mode to dim or even turn off the LCD, but you have to activate that mode every night, it would be nice if it had a timer to automtically go into that mode at 11pm or something.
I love the look of this product. With regards to video support, does the screen play via the ipod/iphone's playlists or do you need to load the video to the built-in memory?
