Samsung X Series withstands human weight test, other hands-on impressions
We suppose we asked for it when we called the new X Series plastic "cheap" to Samsung's face, but we got some wild build quality trust in return when the Samsung guy stood on his laptop for us. So, the plastic feels cheap, but at least it'll hold up under (considerable) pressure, and the matte palm rest is certainly an improvement over the glossy overload of the competition. Upon closer inspection we're still not really feeling the design of these laptops, and the port layout feels a little haphazard, but at least everything's there and there's no garishness to complain about. The X120's side-button trackpad is a bit of a disappointment, though all three laptops do support multitouch for the all important two-finger scrolling. But enough blabber, check out the laptop standing stunt on video after the break!

nice socks.
yeah... Engadget tell us how it smells after that?
That guy's feet are pointing anywhere, he should go to a orthopedist sometime
What would happen if Steve Ballmer stood on it, though?
I'm guessing Steve Ballmer would have a lesser impact on this laptop than the man with the thin feet. Ballmer's feet would have a larger surface area and thus would do less damage than a smaller surface area feet like this guy's.
95% of all humans could stand on most laptops if they did it gradually and carefully. Now a 50lbs child jumping on it would destroy it.
Really Jon? Go stand on your laptop and take a picture both before and after. Inquiring minds want to know.... but aren't quite brave enough to do so on our own laptops.

with shoes it'll crack for sure!
How is this dude putting his nasty feet all over the laptop better than stepping on it with his shoes?
The extra it can't handle the extra .3 lbs of shoe. 150lbs its fine... 150.3lbs...CRACK!
I thought this was a post about a scale.
Windows 7 will have it!
There's an app for that!
I thought they Nintendo's WiiFit Lite
I could easily use my macbook pro to burn right through that fucker.
WTF?...Is that fuchsia?
so, Can this laptop withstand a "NORMAL" American's weight?
Not if you consider the "king of whales" average.
Most laptops could probably do that, but no one before Samsung thought people would give a shit. Let's see what happens when he jumps...
if you consider anyone fatter then that guy "normal" then you are sorely mistaken.
you can say the AVERAGE American is OVERWEIGHT, sure, but that doesn't make it normal.
PUT DOWN THE FORK
So
I can do that with my acer 6935 It will easily withstand it ........................... Oh shi
As opposed to the competition's, it comes w/ GENUINE Windows Vista. I dont know bout you guys, but thats the deal maker for me. Im sick of the verbose marketing stuff.
And whats w/ the silly battery sticker? Is it really needed to remind the owner of such an important spec?
I don't care if you can stand on it, its still a Samsung netbook ^_^
my powerbook took the human weight test when my girlfriend mistook it for the wii fit. don't ask me how. It survived by the way, though occassionally disks have trouble getting out of the slot drive.
Ah, you missed the perfect opportunity to call it your first ever FEET-ON.
Who'd like to hear a story about a bridge?
