Nononono, there is a practical use.
Think about all the donkey ears you can put on people, or boooooobs.
holy shit that's some bad contrast.. It only becomes readable when you have a dark bg.
er, translation... demonstration unit..
that's a nice camera, just a little too dark image
isnt there a fake nokia like that?
So how many Benjamin Franklins is it going to cost me to get a device that most likely offers even less functionality than my Blackberry Pearl?
This phone is just a curiosity and nothing more. It should attract some catchy eyes but no more... What is the point on having a transparent cellphone?
If you can't use it for burning ants in the sunlight, they should go back to the drawing board.
When is this coming? Thats what I want to know...

Granted the hardware design is a bit wrath-ish but flexible OLED device time is NOW!
So SE (and Nokia, and LG and Samsung), plz don't sit around and let the fruit guys do it first...
Or how about the flexible ILED's? Those look even more promising.
dunno looks more earth final conflictish or what that other show somebody help
So, how's the screen on bright daylight? Transparent or not, it has to be usable.
ummm... It's a nice technolgy demo yes, but the way I almost see it, it might have more practical use somewhere else.
great two sides to keep clean!!!
I have an LCD clock with a transparent screen which probably cost about $5.
So this is nothing new or very hard/expensive to make.
It's like hving a movie always going in the background behind the text. Nobody wants that.
Yes, that iPhone 3GS sure is gorgeous!
It's about as gorgeous as a block of cheese. It looks more like a square loupe than anything. And who decided that not having any contrast on the screen was a good idea? Good luck reading anything on that screen if the sun is out.
I think it's interesting. What if you put a bunch of these displays together to create a 3d-effect?
echelon conspiracy.
This looks ok, but if the cellphone that appears on echelon conspiracy movie comes to reality, thats an other story.
Agreed - I don't care if the computer will kill me when I have served my purpose. I'm going to die rich!
and the point of this is......?
I do believe that it's not transparent, it's just a camera image. You can see where the edges of the iPhone don't line up.
I've already got a SE phone with mediocre screen and camera, thanks :)

Screw all of you, that phone is beautiful and I'd get it if I already didn't have a smartphone.
Lets see... if I take an LCD and just take the back off of it (like removing the reflective coating), that is improving technology? Creating a screen that is difficult and annoying to read? ok, so we aren't all going to agree on the screen, some people are enticed because it is just plain different.
But look at the rest if that beast! That "beautiful transparent" screen is attached to what has to be the ugliest cell phone body in existing. I mean, uglier then some of the early motorola flip phones... and that uis saying alot.
This thing is ridiculous. Who needs transparency in a cell phone? Does this thing magnify? Looks like something Bang & Olufsen would release. Only this phone does not have the high quality audio. Its a good design but is practically useless. Sony Ericsson was great back in the P800i days. Nobody had what they had back then. They were also the first to release cameras with a Carl Zeiss lens. But Nokia rained in on that party. Then they did the whole Sony Walkman thing. And now this!
@Somatic.......That was funny as shit man.........LMFAO
my wife says this is the perfect device to keep people from walking into man-holes and the like while they text and walk...you know who you are!
That's what SHE said! Literally, I suppose.
Soooooo.... Now I can text and drive cause I can see the road right?
this device definitely isn't made for those addicted to porn hahahaha
now ppl can c when im watchin pr0n on this thing, FAIL.
naw but seriously, this phone prolly doesnt even have video dual playback cabalilities, still FAILS!
This is an interesting idea that will stop ppl from walking into poles / walls while Twittering, but all the pictures I've seen it looks like the icons and menus are very faint. Maybe it's just the ones I saw, but it seemed hard to see.
Design isn't gorgeous, and there are too many instances where privacy or ambient light will make reading the screen a pain. So it's ugly and flawed functionally.
THAT TINY SCREEN SUCKS
OH EXCUSE ME ! BUT WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THE "SE" LOGO I JUST SEE AN UGLY "M"
