It's no more a gimmick than HD. It's no more a gimmick than high frame rates. It's no more a gimmick than a bigger screen (40" screen instead of a 20" screen). It's no more a gimmick than color images vs black and white.

I think 3D is the next phase in Cinema just like color and sound before it.
To be fair, bad 3D is a gimmick, and a shitty one at that.
Good 3D is the next step towards open air holograms.
The problem is, we don't know if this round of 3D is going to be good or bad. Anyone who claims they do is full of shit.
The last 6 decades of cinema history would disagree with you, 3D has always has always been boom or bust. But that 3D looked like complete ass and was too expensive, maybe this new generation won't. All I ask is an image that isn't transparent.

I don't get it. Didn't you guys watched any of the 3D films showing on the cinema? How can you go back to watch filmed in 2D after watching the 3D version?
I got no headache from it no nothing just pure enjoyment, Its nothing like the old 3D.
and I believe they will find away to get our TV to be Stereo Visual without needing a glasses soon enough.
from what I heard there is already a theater screen for 3D without glasses.
