There's not really much to say about MSI's
X600 that can't be said about the
X340: both laptops slightly improve upon the (rather shoddy) build quality of the
X320, but the X600 is just bigger, and packs a numeric keypad. The keyboard is really the definition of mushy, though it's at least got a bit of a backbone underneath now, and the machine overall feels like it could snap in half at the slightest bit of misapplied pressure. We're sure that's an overstatement, and it's hard to find this much computer in this thin of a form factor at this low of price, but you might want to save a few dollars for a new pair of kid gloves if you're thinking of making the plunge.
Very sexy laptop, nicer than my Wind
Look how long it takes to get more comments!
I have a (pimped up) wind too and i'm thinking of replace it with some newer netbook but I still want a sreen MAX. 10" (or 10 point a little bit), this screen seems far bigger 14" at least,
Therfore I think I'm going after the Samsung N310 (Orange or Mint blue)
*looks at title* *looks at post*... it's 15.6 inches, not 14.
A hands-on with only one pic and no vids?
i believe he is talking about the X340
article: "X600 is just bigger"
Yes. Yes I would defiantly prefer this laptop to your "wind".....
Urrgghh john.
Nicer than my MSI WIND U100 432-US 1.6GHZ INTEL ATOM, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, 3USB ports, ONE ETHERNET, ONE VGA, ONE SOUND AND MICROPHONE OUT, 1.3MP WEBCAM, 90% KEYBOARD, SD CARD READER. BLACK.
Happy now?
Oops I meant james.
Hahah
@Mars
if your wind has 1.6 ghz processor, i can only wonder what happens when you take a dump.
I wouldn't want to drop that...
Against what most think you wouldn't want to drop any laptop.
If it had an SSD I don't think dropping it would do much damage. HDD though... that's another story.
fairly sure dropping any laptop will damage it. there are other components besides and HDD or SSD in a laptop.
cool
the stickers are there for added strength...
Obviously. If you drop it and it brakes, they will hold it in one piece!
spelling fail
No, no, it has built in air braking.
not made by Apple... therefore crap. :\
" not made by Apple... therefore crap. :\ "
Ye dats why ur crap too. fanboy!
That's a bad thing to say.
Not made by Noodles2k. Therefore obviously of intelligent design.
oh dear. sarcasm anyone?
It is amazing to me that no one was able to tell the sarcasm in noodles 2ks first statement. But watever.
For those who work in the engineering/mathematical/data-entry fields, that numeric keypad proves quite convenient, though one would hardly consider this computer a 'powerhouse'.
Funny that even this laptop is designed with enough common sense to include a numeric keypad, yet Apple's exorbitantly expensive 17" MacBook Pro doesn't have one... Hmmm?
Well there's an easy explanation:
Not many "engineering/mathematical/data-entry fields" spend their days at Starbucks.
probably because that would make the laptop look cluttered or ugly? or maybe because most people who can type without looking at the keyboard know where the number keys are...
Any idea from people who have either owned the x300 or this current one? I'm thinking of buying it, and installing 7... and shall give OS X Snow Leopard a try. Because it is either this, or a 12' gateway netbook.
For that matter, has anyone here installed OS X on either of the MSI X series?
Why don't....you just buy an air?
Why don't I... not spend $800 more that I need to spend?
Also, with the X600 I get: 2 USB, HDMI, eSATA, and 15.6 in screen. What do I get with the AIR, again?
The Apple logo is worth $1200 at least. The mba is a bargain!
Why wasn't it put that way before!?!?!?
Why, I could have saved all of this trouble to try and get more features, so instead I could wowo (extra o added on purpose) other people into letting me use their eSATA(The eSATA on the X600 is USB/eSATA, btw), USB, HDMI... While I get by with an audio jack, USB port, and display adaptor?
Now, don't get me wrong. If I was rich... I'd get it. I'd also have a MBP, 15'. But, as it is, I have a higher end HP... with OSX. One day, I'll get one. Cause one day this college degree will pay off!
OSX doesn't have drivers for the intel 4500 line so OSX isn't going to work right now this according to the post at insanely mac
Buy it! I believe this model is part of MSI's free Windows upgrade promotion. If you buy the laptop from the manufacture you can do some paper work stuff and get your Windows 7 installation early! :) I'm not sure about installing the OS on this. It's not like the Wind. But you might know more about this stuff than I do. But yes, college degree will pay off! At least that's what I keep telling myself.
Look how lovely the glossy screen reflects the light shining trough the windows and some random guy looking at another laptop. Let's all buy one of these things and reflect the sunlight at each other, it will be so much fun.
(sarcasm)
Otherwise: nice laptop :)
@Patrick7
Well said bro:)
snap snap. crack.
sometimes, that added centimeter or more expensive materials are worth it if that means your laptop won't snap in half.
most of these thin and light laptops should take notice.
why would anyone want a razor-thin laptop at almost 16 inches
Mushy keyboards make baby Jesus cry. (Then again so does everything else, brat needs a pacifier).
I went thru two X320 and sent them back for a refund. The keyboard is very bad. When i called MSI the rep said "we know about the bad keyboard and please feel free to return for a refund" Im done with Shity MSI build quality.
Since there doesn't seem to be any videos linked to the MSI X600, might as well put one up for the rest of the world to get an idea of what it looks like =]

Its odd how you guys have a hands on while laptop mag about a month ago did a review for the X600. Then again theirs wasn't a slick black color. http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/msi-x600.aspx
yay
its all good
Where the heck is the gallery? Is this even the article?
I stopped reading at MSI...
