It's been a full year since
we asked if a few off-the-wall renders were indicative of Philips' next-generation Senseo, but at long last, the next in the long line of successful coffee making machines has come to light. Seven years after the first Senseo hit the scenes, the heralded machine will finally be made available in a new "square shape," with the appropriately named Quadrante doing everything a Senseo does but with edges rather than contours. Said machine will be available in Dark Stroke Black and Bright Style White, while the limited edition version by Marcel Wanders -- which hearkens back to the classic design -- spices things up with some fancy sequins atop a translucent red or translucent grey finish. For the java lovers in attendance, feel free to give the read links below a once over, and be sure to raise a glass to us while you're at it. [Warning: PDF read links]

Starbucks makes one of the worst cups of coffee in the world and if I gave it to you in a normal brown cup with no logo on it I bet you would not drink it....
The power of marketing!
It's all about Jura
boxy!
Tassimo FTW!
iʻve had my ps for 5 yrs and paid $55.00. iʻm floored by itʻs ability to produce such rich consistant lather (crema) and a silky texture. tap water where i live is very soft. the ecopad http://www.ecopad.us/welcome.htm by passes the ps coffee pods so iʻve been buying the coffee beans from costco freshly roasted java for about $10.00/2.5pd bag. itʻs important to grind the beans to a med fine texture otherwise the coffee is too weak, if the beans are ground too fine the water doesnʻt pass through the ecopad. real cream added and you canʻt believe how it equivilates to a latte. since the recall i havenʻt found the ps but iʻm sure this next generation will cost more but still give you coffee that rivals any commercial cafe lounge. what a find this machine has been for me.............
Anyone know of a coffee maker where the hot liquid never touches PLASTIC??? only stainless steel?
I dislike plastic and believe it leaches when heated.
I have the original Senseo, a Braun carafe drip coffee maker and a nice thermal carafe french press and while the Senseo makes a "ok" cup of coffee it is only as good as those little pods are fresh.
If the pods are even slightly old their taste is very bitter and for me that is the problem with the system because of the packaging the product goes bad very easy and for the amount of coffee each "pod" makes it isn't the value I once thought it was gonna be.
I think the "k-cup" system is better and it has much better variety ( at least in the states) of coffee and tea. But I do very much like the idea of easy cleanup these single serve coffee makers offer because cleaning the french press is a pain at times.
