Headphone shocker! Lady Gaga, Beats by Dr. Dre and Monster Cable join forces
We really can't think of a trinity unholier than that of Dr. Dre, Lady Gaga, and Monster Cable, who (protestations to the contrary) is not the only entity legally entitled to use the word "monster." Or "cable," for that matter. That said, our fair Lady has been going for broke with the elaborate costumes and set designs -- at least that's what we hear during our regular slogs through the Gaga fansites and forums -- so perhaps it's no surprise that she seems to be shilling extra hard lately. And for the fruit of this evil menage we need look no further than Heartbeats, her very own signature line of headphones. First, some product details: these bad boys feature a jewel-shaped earpiece that "literally doubles as a high-tech fashion accessory or attractive piece of jewelry," and they're available in October for prices ranging from $99.95 to $149.95. But the best part? Well, for that you'll have to dip into the PR:
In the deepest hour of the night, I confess to myself three things; I would die if I was forbidden to write, forbidden to love, or forbidden to fashion. Heartbeats embody the trinity of my human-being, with one additional vow: that SOUND matters. Wear Heartbeats, love each other, and celebrate the art and lifestyle of music.
Right. If you're morbidly curious, please feel free to hop on down to the ga-ga-gallery below.
Update: Yes, we're still convinced that Monster Cable is pure evil -- but as always we reserve the right to stick our two cents in whenever we feel that something is too upsetting / hilarious to pass up. And we're sure you agree that this product is nothing if not upsetting / hilarious!

so whoever dresses like an idiot is considered a fashon icon... wow time to get me some idiotic clothes.
Lady Gaga is the new Madonna
"literally doubles" - Wow, that's quite an abuse of the English language!
And this is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a Gaga.

...and free advertising for monster cables.
You might not glean it from these comments, but most readers of Engadget are savvy and smart enough to know better than pick up a pair of these things.
WTF you joking right? the stupidest people in the industry come here to keep up cause they no shit from shiola. whats worse is half the writers here know even less....right chris?
Man das some wack sh*t, Dre got tangled up in this, Dre is on some other sh*t. And these headphones are crap. Cant believe Dre would endorse dis bull. Still waiting on dat album...
I can't believe Dre would spend four years in med school only to sell out like this.
I feel dumber having read the "PR" section of that post, and then trying to understand what it was saying....
can I have that 5 mins of my life back?
Who the hell is Lady Gaga???
Ugh, Lady Gaga. Can you say Bu-bu-bu-butter face.
Sigh.
Pop music died 30 years ago.
Kinda late to the party, but honestly this is no surprise, Lady Gaga has been whoring Monster Beats headphones in most of her/his videos already, it's only fair she/he got paid for it too.
LADY GAGA IS A MAN.
Lets see if it is a tranny
hangs out with vougers?
Check
wears tranny cat suits?
CHECK
Has a the franks and beans of a man?
Check!!! look it on you tube
You're right about the unholy part. I'm pretty much a fan of Dr. Dre, but Monster Cable $ucks b@lls, and 'lady' Gaga should drop the last A from her name - that's what I do when I hear her music. She should be punished for creating such garbage and spewing it out to the public. MC should be also for creating mediocre equipment and charging out the butt for it.
Here, Here!!
I'm pretty sure 95% of you didn't try any beats headphones, that so sad that people talk sh*t on stuff they don't even know..., monster might suck, but does any of you tried those, or even the older ones?
sheep sheep sheep
;P
I have tried the beats... and quite frankly I hate them. Not only are they overpriced, and only create 'rave' reviews, but they are overpriced, and monster & worstbuy where they are sold at have crappy customer service. I Much prefer the Koss KDE 250's, they sound better, don't take batteries, are actually portable, have dual elements in each ear, fit my head, and aren't ludicrously overpriced (kde's are $130), and 'created' by a guy who doesn't have a degree in anything design related. They also have a lifetime warranty, which you don't need to use because they don't break, compared to the 3 year warranty with crappy customer service, and cable breakage, and headband deterioration.
You bunch of sadfaces.. I bet 99% of you commenters haven't ever heard the Beats or any of the Monster headphone/earphone products.
Would it really scare you if they made a decent product? Is that reality really THAT scary?
I happen to have the Beats By Dre and yes, I also own the Shure SRH440, Shure SE530, Denon D2000, Monster Turbine and AKG K518.
The Beats are great for commuting and let you listen to your music without being disturbed. And yes! They actually sound pretty good!
They look the part, sound the part and are extremely handy with their in-line iPod/iPhone remote! If you buy the top-of-the-line Shure, you still have to buy the iPhone accessory, Monster gives you one.
