Guangzhou Darling DP2000 is a nutty pc-in-a-projector that we kinda love (video)
What do you add to a pocket projector that already has a massive 640 x 480 resolution and the power of 9 suns lumens? Why, a WinCE-powered computer, of course. Now, when everyone else is fumbling around with their bulky laptops, you can bust out your Darling, use the top-mounted touchpad to navigate, and be the fastest projector gunslinger in the office. There's even a stand, a pair of mini-USB ports for hooking up a keyboard and mouse, and an SD expansion slot to augment the already super-generous 1GB of Flash storage. So how much does a PC with a huge display and SSD cost these days? $180. Don't tell us that ain't progress. Check it out after the break.

I like it, it can only get better...

Beagleboard or Gumsticks Overo :D
Its still missing something.. humm. LASER projector keyboard. :D
Now this is good tech!
What does the scouter say about his power level?
That is a nice little device.
i dunno, its under 9000 lumens
Pico projectors are I think usually around 20 or 30 lumen aren't they.

None of these pocket projectors look....pocketable.
jeez the guy's annoying, give her a second to answer questions!
can't you see she doesn't speak english properly?
Which makes me wonder is he speaking english in China or he she selling a product here without being able to speak english?
something's wrong either way...
Very nice idea btw, needs to be developed a bit.
inflight laptop?
If you want to be "that guy" that's illuminating the entire coach cabin at night with you little projector while you play space invaders :)
It's adorable, and a little more elegant than the smartphones we've seen with built in projectors, but also far less functional. Of course you can't beat the price with a smartphone. Personal verdict: Approval
2 and a half years ago at CeBIT 2007, I filmed a demo from a company called Yahsin where they would also have pen input technology that could be compatible with such a pico projector: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ranHwK9d7c
And a year and a half ago at CeBIT 2008 I filmed the Celluon laser keyboard technology http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Jz6l2qZ6sQ\
So imagine an Android powered pico projector, with a lense or mirror system that projects a 17" screen on-table with finger and pen touch recognition using small detectors like the Celluon laser keyboard or using technology in the pen like Yahsin, I think that would be pretty a pretty awesome large screen pocket computer system.
I think it's $1080.
I think it's $1080.
Nice technology :)
I want a smartphone that can do this, a touchscreen would make a good touchpad, it already has speakers, all it needs is a built-in projector.
The concept may not be new, but I'm impressed on how China turned this into reality. If enough quantity is made and sold, the price will drop.
mann i miss guangzhou
i wish i was back there, i gota save more money and get back to china!
i love you guangzhou
Anyone know the specs of the pc inside?
Thats a great idea. Darling little device.......
So the standard GPS unit hardware with an projector, so the projector is about $100 now eh, good idea to combine the two.
