HTC Tattoo (aka, Click) brings Android, Sense UI to all
This one sure took awhile but the oft leaked HTC Click has been renamed and kicked out the door as the Tattoo. While HTC is light on specs with the press release, we know it has a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera, 3.5-mm headset jack, and microSD expansion. And besides being small and compact, the Tattoo can be personalized with owner-designed covers -- hence the name. The HTC Tattoo lands in Europe early October before hitting select global markets in the months to follow.
Update: And... out pop the specs: 528MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, 512MB/256MB ROM/RAM, 106 x 55.2 x 14-mm / 113 grams, 2.8-inch touchscreen LCD pushing 240x320 QVGA pixels, 900/2100MHz HSPA/UMTS and quad-band GSM/EDGE, internal GPS, 802.11b/g WiFi, digital compass, accelerometer, and Bluetooth 2.0. Not bad for a mass-market device.

Not really liking the screen size, resolution, battery life, or the border around the screen.. but if it's only an entry level device then I guess that's reasonable.
On a more positive note, I at least like the look of the device.
I think HTC should get on to the internet search for mobile phone device designs. There are a lot of talented designers out there, so why not use them. All I am looking for is a screen which covers the entire front side of the device, much like the iphone. Make it simple and slick. I can not be that difficult.
Just buy an iPhone
You need to get your eyes examined if you think the iPhone's screen covers the entire front of the device. The iPhone has just as much dead space on the front as anything else does, at least HTC puts some buttons on there to make use of that space.
QVGA screen, half the resolution of all the other Android phones. This means that third-party apps will either not work properly, and developers have to tweak their apps to make it work on the Tattoo. This is one of the problems that Windows Mobile have had for years. Compatibility was an issue across so many different devices with so many different specifications. Android going down this path may not be a good thing.
Daniel. Surely your semicolon and your close bracket buttons on your keyboard have broken by now.
The german newssite golem.de just annouced a price tag for the tattoo. It should be avaiable for 339 €.
That's not to bad, taking into account that the streetprice will be lower (~299 €)
The Hero ist still at 390 €.
i like t-mobile pulse then this
Sounds like another pointless phone...
Where's the TouchHD2?
Wow, if only more WinMo devices from HTC had the same standards. I hope 3.5 mm head jacks come on more HTC handsets.
Not to mention market entry prices. IF it's true. Maybe this will be an indicator for upcoming WinMo phones? One can hope. A way to easily customize the Touch Diamond 2 with 'tattoos' would have been kinda nice...
How much?
This looks really nice compared to the leaked shots of it in blue...wow, everything looks nice in black. I want to know the price, I might pick one up to have an Android toy.
So this is the first chinless Android HTC phone :)
For £200 (similar to the price the razr was on PayG) I would buy one straight away.
This is going to be the most unwieldy Android phone to date. A 2.8 inch screen? Can you imagine how small and impossible the on-screen keyboard is going to be on this thing?
is it me or is this guy with the tattoo a bit chubby?
So the only difference to a G2 is a even smaller screen with 320x200 res.
Which as reported by golem.de saves you 70 euros (330 to ~400).
WIth a G2 costing 0 - 99 euros in germany and austria at T-Mobile.
How much sense does that make?
QVGA = HUGE DEAL BREAKER
Good luck getting all your apps to run right, all bets are off when you try to run existing apps in a low resolution mode. The really basic ones will work fine, but anything complicated will just render itself outside of your viewable area.
The good news is that most of them will probably soon be reworked to be compatible, but you're never going to have perfect luck running market apps and it may take a while for all of your favorites to be ported over.
When are we supposed to get some Android phones on Sprint?
Blah blah blah. There will be many many handsets to come for this "open" platform. The real point is Android still sucks. Android 1.6 will fix a few holes, but we'll need to wait for 2.0 before it really challenges the iPhone. Plus the processor speeds are not good enough to really make Android fly yet, and when they do we'll hit the same old power consumption wall that no-one has sorted yet.
Ohhh, yes I hear all the Android fanclub saying, "Android doesn't suck" - OK, tell me why after the G1 and by version 1.5 Google still hasn't got a universal search in Android ...... yes that's GOOGLE we're talking about, the biggest search engine in the universe, not putting search into the phone? Tell me why the mp3 player doesn't use Genres .... do you know of any mp3 player like that? Tell me why you can't search the notes fields in contacts? I could go on and on and on. Android is full of shortcomings and bugs.
Sort the platform out first, couple it with a low power consumption decent sized sceen and processor and then I'll gladly laugh at WinMo and iPhone and buy one.
yay no with google!
Can I just ask this? How the crap can we type on a 2.8" screen? It's hard enough on my Mytouch 3G and that has a 3.2"
Love the design. Definitely worth looking at.

DAMN YOU HTC. Give me a damn keyboard. A holes. >:(
The rom for this will run nicely on my Vogue.
Please tell me this is ATT bound when it hits the states..
I was even thinking of exchanging my Nokia 5800XM for this when it came out, but know when I look at the specs (you can get all of them on gsmarena) it actually looks worse, being the only good point over my Nokia is the Android, because a 2.8in screen with 320x240 res?! Please!
£100 punds on pay as you go?????????
