Sprint support site says webOS 1.2 coming today, releases patch notes

According to Sprint's official support pages, webOS 1.2.0 is officially heading out of the stable sometime today. There's lots of minor tweaks and updates here, a hefty refinement of the current system -- but a few of you already know that. Our Pre phones haven't started blinking yet, and there's still a chance the patch date is in error. Hit up the read link for the full list of changes, and be sure to let us know if you start getting any update notifications.

Too little too late. Just exchanged the misses and my Pres for 3GSs. Poor service, poor phone. Analysts got this one way wrong back when the Pre was about to come out. Viable iPhone contender? Hardly. Not a viable anything contender. Android, WinMo, and iPhone will trample the Pre.

A good start to updating the OS... proves Palm is listening to feedback. Now ((stands on roof to shout towards Palm HQ)) fix the issue with the alert sounds (being able to change them and change volumes). AND...bring back the expandable memory! That will always be the deal breaker for me! I'm not desperate enough to drink the iPhone KoolAid, but the HTC devices are looking better and better.... Come on Palm! I'll stick it out with my Treo680 until the last second and wait to see if Rubenstein realizes this isn't an iPhone or iPod... and external memory is a GOOD thing!

Ok so i use to have an iphone. switched to android found a g1 really cheap over @ craiglist.
Then made the switch to pre.

And overall I dont miss the iphone. As a matter of fact the pre is really an all out multi touch device.
Gestures to get around the interface (back,forward etc.)

The iphone is buttons. overall I look at my old iphone and at the pre and the pre is just so much better looking.
The iphone looks and feels outdated.

My poor ugly g1 still holds a spot inside this geeks heart but the pre won me.

Can't wait! although I'm a little disappointed that the blinking LED notifications don't appear to be included in this update (although the code may very well be there).

My biggest hope is that everything's just a little bit snappier than it is now.

lol, I guarantee you'll have to exchange your Pre at least 5 times within that 3 year contract they lock you into. Hardware is so weak and awful. Regular use destroys the phone in just a few months. Ask around and see how many people are using the same Pre they bought on launch day.

I too am using the same pre I got at launch. Don't believe everything you read, especially when most "journalism" on the internet is biased. When a device maker is a minority market shareholder of the minority mass, you're likely to find more hate rhetoric than proper reporting as you find for iPhone or BlackBerry. But humble pie will consume the majority that depend on blogs/bloggers for their information instead of reliable statistics on returns.

Yup, still got my Pre from launch day. smh @ peasants. and June 6th launch day at that. Dropped it a few times, no problems. very, slight..minimal wiggle, nothing to crazy either. This thing is still a notch over the best, 3 months vs. 2 years and several OS upgrades.. very interesting.

Same Pre as on launch day here too. Aside from a little oreo'ing, it's given me zero problems. I've never been a fan of sliders, but the phone has enough redeeming qualities and future potential* that I was willing to live with the slider. Give me an on-screen keyboard and I'll probably never open the slider again!

*future potential appears like it will be realized in this update. From what I've read from people who had downloaded the accidental 1.2 a few days ago, Palm seems to have focused on infrastructure and usability issues. Tomorrow should be a good time to check out the new 1.2 features as it will be an otherwise slow news day! :)

I'm sure hoping this update will fix the issue with .wav files from our company Voicemail not playing. Super frustrating - and is keeping me from buying more Pre's for my staff. The same .wavs play fine on the iPhone and on Windows Mobile phones.
