iPod shuffle 2G is no more
Every highly-polished stainless steel lining has a cloud, it seems, and today's music player overhaul by Apple has been no different. Amidst all the excitement about moderate improvements and video cameras, we've also had to say goodbye to an old friend. Having been kept around for six months after the release of its successor, the second gen shuffle has finally succumbed, leaving the newly colorful 3G option all on its lonesome in the minimalist music lover space. Ah well, if you really have your heart set on the old rocker, refurb models are still available at Apple's online store, though probably not for long.

NOOOOOO. How the fuck can they do this. This litlle gadget is just perfect for when i am training or in the mood for some shuffling. plus the little thing fits perfectly around my wrist using the marware wrist band. How can apple do this. looks liek i am going to get a couple for when they are not avalable anymore.
Did anyone buy this? I don't think I've ever seen one of these IRL. Most people who buy a 2GB player opt for one of those cheap chinese ones with a one-line LCD screen, built-in USB port and a lanyard. (Europe here, I'm sure Americans eat it up)
I know two people who bought one and I got one via my wife. which she got as a gift when she attended a sales spiel.
It's actually quite nice, but I've kept my 1st gen stick.
I still have the first generation gumpack shuffle.
This Shuffle is no more! It has ceased to be!
Looks like they discontinued the wrong iPod Shuffle.
I enjoy mine. Clips onto clothes or right on to my headphones. I bought a connector that allows you to plug it in the usb port like a flash drive. It's about 1"by1" w/ a headphonejack and cost 3 bucks on ebay.
It is a shame, I think it was the prettiest PMP ever. I am very sad I lost my orange one through a hole in my bag. It had a selection of songs to play when I was sad! No I am sad, and no music to play.... only joking!
Let us all have a moment of silence for our fallen.
R.I.P.
Indeed, I think that Apple has killed off the wrong Shuffle here and, frankly, made a right mess of the device.
Hopefully some company steps up to the plate and makes a viable replacement (metal and small!) before mine bites the dust.
That said, I'll probably go and buy one or two more for the future. Question, will the battery degrade regardless of whether I use it or not?
I still use my 2nd gen Shuffle everyday for 2 hours minimum.
The play/pause button is a little sensitive, when i press volume down it sometimes pauses cause of that.
Nevertheless, battery is still superb and i dropped it a lot and it still works like it should.
I wish for a new shuffle with new buttons and the ability to plug in any minijack headphones i want.
It'd also be great if someone made a over ear headphone so that i can click the shuffle into one of the earpieces (no wires :p)
