Sprint is pulling ahead as by far the best provider out there.
A phone lineup that includes the Pre, Touch Pro 2, Pixie, and Hero, free off-network roaming on Verizon's network, a top-notch nationwide data network of their own, and pricing that is by far the cheapest in the industry.
Sprint is knocking home run after home run. I really can't understand why they're still losing customers. Poor marketing?
Well Jeremy, we're waiting for a sensible answer. Are you just angry sprint doesn't have the iphone, or did you just feel the need to be a nonsense talking smart ass?
As far as prices go, I'd say that Sprint is definitely champ however they have notoriously crappy customer service and a generally bad reputation for having poor service whether said reputation is warranted or not.
As with most issues pertaining to technology, it really is a matter of one size does not fit all so I cannot conclusively say what the best service provider is because they all have their own major issue(s). But I certainly agree with the sentiments all around: I hope this breeds competition all around because this truly is a kick ass deal.
derX stated a very important point: reputation. Once a business tarnishes their reputation, it's very difficult to recover. On top of that AT&T nabbed the iPhone, and VZW nabbed the Storm at the hay day of Sprint's bad rep.
As someone who travels a lot, I still prefer a UMTS / GSM system. Sure there are world phones on Verizon and Sprint for traveling, but I think covers calls, not data. And you can't bring in phones from the outside either.
Of course, for most Americans, that's not a factor.
There are lots of reasons for the Sprint demise. For one thing, Sprint is NOT available everywhere. And even in their well covered areas (I'm in Dallas) there are some significant dead spots... and they've been there forever and Sprint isn't going to fix it. I used to dial the code for dropped call... which is painful, but a nice way to get a rebate every month on your bill.
IMHO, victory goes to the provider that makes DATA affordable with tethering....
My current Sprint phone can tether (non 3G+, old phone), and it goes under the radar mostly at Sprint... but carriers in the USA REALLY cannot take the loads of full Internet... but they like to make it sound like they are ready. The iPhone is a good case and point. Showed AT&T that they can't do it.... though arguably they have the money to make it happen. Frankly they'd rather see Sprint and Verizon go belly up... and they're prepared to wait for that day without doing ANYTHING.
Sprint is focused on survival. They're still paying big for their past BAD acquisitions. Lots of blood loss.... the wound might heal if they could just stop the bleeding.
the last article i read said that like 900K monthly paying customers were lost, and about 900K prepaid (boostmobile) customers were gained, my guess is that its mostly the Nextel people leaving, I mean why pay twice as much for the same service when you can get it without contract for $50 dollars a month and have unlimited everything. IMO Sprint was dumb for buying a network its not compatible with! Sprint should bundle it with some hedge funds and try to sell it to some suckers.
The things you just listed are either in the future or just happened in the last 6 months. Customer loyalty has momentum, you gotta give it some time. Maybe invest? if you want to put your money where your mouth is.
Buying Nextel wasn't really a bad plan it gave Sprint a lot more customers, it just shows how bad Sprint's management is, which still shows today with how they market things, and the screw up with the $100 off the pre..... They could screw up anything.

Maybe if you pulled your head out of Sprint's ass, you'd be able to see why they're still losing customers. I'll wait...
That's not really necessary.
What does Verizon or AT&T or T-Mobile really offer that's better than Sprint?
well Jeremy, he just gave reasons why Sprint is a good network.
please enlighten us as to why it isnt?

ATT offers the iPhone, and Verizon offers shit phones.

First, I am a Sprint customer.
