The Engadget Show tapes Sunday, September 13th -- our first guest is Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein

The show -- which will be a mix of one-on-one interviews, roundtable discussions, short video segments, and live music -- will take place at the Tishman Auditorium at Parsons The New School for Design. The Show will be filmed live once a month -- but if you can't make it, don't worry. We'll be bringing the full video back home to Engadget (and as a free download in the iTunes Store, Zune Marketplace, etc.) for your viewing pleasure. The full show should be online just a few days after we tape!
The beautiful venue (which you can see in a photo after the break) is located at 66 W. 12th Street between 5th and 6th Aves. Seating is limited and tickets will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis -- which means if you want to join us in the audience for the show, you'll have to arrive early and be prepared for a little wait.
Here are the facts you need to know about the show:
- The show is graciously sponsored by Nokia, and hosted by Parsons The New School for Design
- Bit Shifter (one of our favorite chiptune artists) will be playing live at the first show!
- The total show length will be around an hour
Here is what you need to know if you want to be part of the audience:
- There is no admission fee -- tickets are completely free
- The event is all ages
- The venue seats just over 450 people
- Parsons students are welcomed, and we encourage them to come!
- Tickets will be available for pickup at the Tishman Auditorium at 2PM on the 13th, and we're strongly encouraging people to get their tickets and not stand in line -- if you have a ticket, you'll have a seat!
- You cannot pick up tickets for other people -- if you want your friend to get a ticket, bring your friend!
- The show begins at 5PM, and doors will open at 4:30PM

Palm CEO, sponsored by Nokia.
Ok, I guess.
Palm CEO? Interesting what he'll say about the iTunes/Palm syncing issues.
Well today was a failure for apple, so here's a low rank to go with it. Can't to see what Palm's Ceo has to say about the itune sync problems.
ENGADGET SHOW... PALM CEO... all sponsored by NOKIA is a huge mystery for me... o_O
But maybe Nokia will get the place crowded and then set it on fire? :D
Oh you Engadgeteers, always throwing us for a loopski!

cool, look forward to how much John is willing to say.
I will show up trashed! I encourage everyone to do the same. In fact, we should get bottles of jack and pass them around during the show.
Great choice of guest! Can't wait!
Looks like the engadget police is a wake. Well no wonder it being an apple holiday at engadget.
try making senses next time you commenting
how many people can that place seat because it looks awfully small... you should come film at my school it can seat 5000 people!!!
I'm guessing 450.
I'm with meoyskie - I'll take a wild guess and say it seats 450. Completely off-the-cuff there...
Hopefully you'll ask him a tough question about the Pre iTunes sync similar to Nilay's editorial on the subject.
How much time per episode are you guys shooting for? 30 minutes? An hour? 2 hours?
an hour.
No matter how many times I see it, an Engadget event sponsored by Nokia still sounds weird :P
because we all know they LOVED the N97.
When it's sponsored by Monster Cable, then we can talk.
SWEET!
That is a good first guest. Could you please ask him who on earth does he know that has small enough hands to use the keyboard on the Pre?
Not smart for Nokia. I bet an Apple executive who approved such an event would be fired.
Make sure you put the musical guest at the end, it'll save me having to fast forward.
Nothing against the artist, just don't care about listening to someone singing when I'm watching a show about gadget/tech news.
ooOOoooo, thats going to be interesting. please, i beg you to ask about the iTunes Syncing debocle
Oh I just wish that Ryan and Peter would be able to join you guys. But can't wait for you guys to ask all those questions that Mr. Mossberg did not.
Ask him if we will see the Pre on other carriers.....
Please... I want Verizon to have a decent phone.
Josh: can you ask Rubinstein why they dropped WiFi frrom the Pixi/Eos? I know the official statement said that 3G offers similar speed but 3G service isn't available in much of the U.S. (it certainly isn't around here). Plus some people prefer candybar phones over sliders. There is plenty of room on the market for Palm products offering the same feature set but both candybar and slider format. Why not offer a higher-end version of the Pixi that has both WiFi and 16 GB of storage?
Ditto to your question
Hmmm, I hope Bad Religion plays lol. Would be sick. Tell Jon to put out 1.2 on WebOS I am so excited to have file downloads within the browser!
Nokia, just buy Palm already.
Hmm Not a bad idea...
Too awesome. I might have to go!
I'm sooooo there! It's right around the corner from me, hahaha!
Bring back Foleo! :P
can't wait to see you guy live!!!
Hey, I have a question for Jon.
First off, I own a Pre and love it, and I love the fact the app store is starting to fill up with some great stuff. My question is that there were some rumors months ago (which turned out to be false) that Sprint/Palm has stopped updating the Pre and will no longer update it. Obviously, this is false, but will there ever be a point in time when Palm will just stop adding updates, or will it be cradled by Palm and updated for years to come, ala Apple and their lovechild the iPhone.
This question is based on the fact that my last cell phone (sany M1), as well as many other phones, have an "Update" option, but for one reason or another, they never release an update. I was just worried Palm might give the Pre the same treatment as other phones, send out one update and leave it for dead.
*Sanyo M1. Not a knockoff Sony phone.
cool story bro
@Joshua Topolsky and Engadget.com
Why the Hell do you have a sponsor ???
This smells like the end of your independance, because you throw it in others's hands !!!
Sorry to read this...
Mastrouz
You have noticed the ads on the webpage haven't you...
I'm really glad Engadget is doing this kinda thing. They are really stepping up their game and separating themselves from other blogs and podcasts!
I hope Paul, Nilay and Josh will still continue their weekly audio podcast though. I love that podcast.
Don't care about sync with iTunes. I DO care about them staying the course with updates and improvements to the Pre. I would like to hear more about their plans to help distribute WebOS. I see so much potential there and really want them to keep pushing that envelope. I may be a Mac user but I love gadgets and tech of all kinds. Just cannot help it - all my gadgets are like children. I don't love one more than the other. Great first guest by the way.
its about time engadget had a show long overdue
I just listened to the podcast today.
I have no idea how they got Nokia to sponsor the whole thing after all that bashing :O
Will Seattle ever get this kind of love? I feel it to be futile, but I had to know.
Will it be turned into a podcast? I don't think I'll be watching it, but I'd like to listen...
One question for Palm CEO: When will the unlock GSM Pre release?
Maybe I missed this when reading, but any chance of a live stream? Even if it's a still camera?
