Sprint newsletter lets slip Instinct HD
Samsung still hasn't come completely clean with its forthcoming Instinct HD, but it might as well. A recent Sprint Premier Connection newsletter not only introduced the Any Mobile, Anytime plan that was detailed this morning, but it also let slip a staggeringly pixelated image of the Instinct HD. Sprint tells us a few things we already knew -- like how the phone has a 3.2-inch display that's decidedly not high-def, a 5 megapixel camera and an improved web browser -- while leaving us to wonder about things like price after rebate. We'll take "Coming soon!" to mean "within the next month or so." Right, Sprint?

So its not really hd at all?
So you're not really Megan Fox at all?
Who says I'm not?
I say you're not...I was just with Megan Fox, she was too busy to post on Engadget, if you get my meaning.
"You couldve fooled me with that comment"
Obviously I could've, since you're not smart enough to put and apostrophe between the v and the e.
I really, really want to know more about the InstinctQ instead. Android + landscape slider keyboard sounds dreamy!
Me Too!
Put a Hero rom, MotoBlur rom, or any other rom and it does not matter what carrier you have, you have them all with android!
I think?
X2
Sprint is on a roll
not yet. lower the price of the htc touch pro2 to complete the circle.
thats what she said!
damn it.
Why do so many companies have to use HD as a buzz word. Unless that screen is 720p, it shouldn't be called HD. And don't even get me started about youtube HD.
Youtube HD is 720p. The few HD videos have a resolution of 1280x720.
Haven't you learned - HD for companies = Huge Dick
I feel like the "coolest" person right now! (Look at the end "Thanks, Ellis") :P lol. I received the email last night, and tipped Engadget.
Anyways, I believe Sprint/ Samsung is calling it the "Instinct HD" Because it (according to rumors) records video in high definition, and can play back high definition content. What would be really cool is if it could play high definition content onto an HD TV. Although by high definition I am sure that it only records/ plays in 720P, rather than full 1080P (also can't wait to see whats under the hood!). But honestly, for a phone that is amazing! It would be the first phone in the United States that records in high definition (not including unlocked phones imported from other countries). Definitely a consideration for my next phone! :)
"What would be really cool is if it could play high definition content onto an HD TV."
Well it does have an HDMI output on the right side of the phone under a hatch that is labeled. "Video Out." I dont think it will be playing back HD movies for you tho. :)
"improved web browser"
aka poop?
Who knows how good it would be. But you can just install Opera or something like that. But I think the browser will actually, be very decent/ usable this time. If it can supposedly play 720p content, it has to have a good cpu/ or gpu in it. That would be awesome if it had a Tegra, but that's probably not going to happen.
Main point being, if it can play 720p content, it can definitely handle the web! The first Instinct's processor was clocked at around 200mhz (correct me if I am wrong). But let's just cross our fingers and hope it will just blow us away! (Along with all the other just announced phones :P lol. So many phones announced in such a short time. It really effects me, it is hard to own every new phone that comes out now :P).
I don't even know why they try. When I had an Instinct I just used Opera Mini, it's really fast and displays websites well.
It's supposed to be Opera Mobile running the web browsing this time around. Not Opera Mine, but Opera Mobile. At least that's what they're saying over here: http://www.phonenews.com/instinct-hd-preview-sprint-titan-loaded-opera-mobile-deal-samsung-8760/
If it really has Opera Mobile than that's very impressive. Wow.
NODNOD it is supposed to be the full version of Opera Mobile on this phone now. They aren't messing around with that crap browser they had on the original Instinct.
Been there, done that, bought the Pre instead.
engadget, stop banning my account plzkthx. I promise I'll never ever ever ever say anything bad about Lord Jobs again.
sheesh.
More information from Best Buy Mobile's buyer's guide/website this month:

I like the design. I may get this.
It has a built in mini HDMI port, from what I've heard at meetings about it. It'll be out September 27th.
God damn, so the phone that had an original projected launch of Q2 09, now is bordering on becoming Q4 09. They should just slap the name Samsung Instinct Nuvi on it and launch it in a year. I'm getting tired of waiting for this phone. I've been waiting 4 months since I returned my S30. I even passed up on the Pre because I liked the S30 so much.
sooo..... where's the omnia HD?
"Simpler texting." How exactly does typing a message to someone get simpler?
So..."HD" is the new "Turbo". I feel the urge to chase Marketing people with a big stick.
"The Instinct has now fully evolved."
Really? Evolution leads to a continuance of the crappy, half-baked Brew/TouchWiz OS? I certainly hope the evolution of all other phones is stifled if that's that case.
HOT dawg. Sprint is driving me wild with desire right now. Instict HD, cheaper Pre, Pixi.... its all too much!
