What's this, another fun tech demo from Sony? Just a few days ago we got a glimpse of the
PS3VR library, which allows seamless zooming from far away to very, very close indeed. The company also showed off voice recognition tech and it's now applying the same idea to the
PlayStation Eye, fulfilling
earlier promises of advanced facial recognition for the PS3. It's called the Vision Library and, once a face has been analyzed, the machine can tell it apart from others, determine orientation, identify gender, tell what expression that face is... expressing, and then superimpose some big-eyed anime head right on top of it real-time. We fear this might take some of the fun out of cosplay night, but could make life rather more interesting for freaks with bovine fetishes. See for yourself after the break.

The PS3 is ideal for that stuff because of the VPUs.

They had this at The Dark Knight (the ride) at 6 Flags great adventure. It was pretty cool, but probably different, but it did put a joker mask in front of your face.
I don't know if I ever seen Six Flags written with a "6".

Dear American, welcome to British English, where nouns representing groups of people – such as Sony – can be treated as single or plural depending on context.
Sony IS a company.

Yeah, it's difference of quantity. I'm pretty sure the Brits think of a company name in a plural connotation (a collection of things) and to us Americans a company is a singular thing. It's confusing, I know. I think of a company like a box. It's a container for all that it has and we don't say "box are cardboard."
But right there you just contridicted yourself:
*A* Company is *A* collection *of* people
therefore the verb goes with the subject (a collection) and not with descriptive part of the phrase (people).
Technically I didn't contradict myself, but the topic, since I refer to companies as a singular term.

as if the deepzoom 'tech' they showed off a few days back wasn't laughable as it was, this just makes me chuckle. mid-ranged web cam from logitech comes with software that does this exact same thing, and has been doing it for quite some time.

Mind in a gutter much? Orientation is more widely used to denote direction of facing or travel.
I'm just happy that Sony's finally utilizing all of its technologies (EyeToy), instead of letting them collect dust on the shelf.
I agree, Ps3Eye is great and should be utilized more.
I just use my PSeye for voice chat now. Very rare do I do vid chat, its too laggy right now. Its fine for 2 people but when I try to chat wit my cuz in NJ, then with my bro 100 miles from me, then with my other cuz in Puerto Rico it gets REAL slow and laggy. Itll be nice if that can get fixed in any way but I doubt it. Thats probably the ISP or something.

In other news today, PS3 tech demos are now proving the system is turning into more of a joke everyday. Once the magic dildo wand arrives this will be proven.
