Dell 24-inch U2410 IPS monitor sneaks out for $599 US retail

Already seen in Japan, the 24-inch UltraSharp U2410 professional monitor is up for retail on Dell's US store. The IPS-panel features a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, 6-ms response, 178-degree viewing angles, 1000:1 typical contrast, and 12-bit internal processing (1.07 billion colors), and 96% AdobeRGB and 100% of sRGB color space coverage. Connectivity options are vast with jacks for DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, component, composite, and VGA. That's a lot of rig for $599. Hit the link below if you just have to have it since you won't find it promoted on the Dell US monitor pages just yet.

The monitor's color gamut has zero dependence on the number of bits used for internal processing....
rofl
I guess somewhere in there Ricker insinuated that.
In any case, how does it compare to the 2408WFP if one was considering a near-future purchase?
Looks like it's been changed for clarity. Thanks guys!
@F.C. This should be a much better monitor than the 2408wfp; at least in theory. I haven't seen one but if it's anything like the 2209wa it should be quite impressive.
@Bryce: I'm not sure what's funny. Color gamut is determined by the physical colorants used in the construction of the panel. The number of bits simply determines how finely that gamut is partitioned and processed.
Woww only $599, Me wants!!
Drooool... Of course, you can't really say this until it's been reviewed, but the question in my mind is... "Why pay over $1000 for an NEC when this Dell seems to have equal or better specs for $600?"
Already seen in Japan *and Australia*
There, fixed it for ya.
and singapore
And UK
And Norway.
Germany too
Still waiting for the multitouch-variant... then i can retire my two old 24"-dells
want!
Yeah, but how does it handle blacks?
you meant to say "but how does it handle Crysis?"
@thoughtmonster:
I'm sure it handles blacks the same way it handles whites, Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders.
Another poor soul foolishly convinced that NOTHING with LCD in the name can handle blacks to an acceptable degree.
Let me guess, Best Buy employee?
@thoughtmonster
You and yours are the kind of filth that should be removed/banned from a forum like this.
Quite cheap for an IPS panel :)
coupon for Dell Small Business ($100 off):
?D1GJGKRQK0NFP
That coupon expired yesterday.
sorry, 20% off (brings it down to $479.2)
I wonder if this uses S-IPS or the newer, cheaper, eIPS. The ever-so-popular 2209WA uses eIPS.
I think it uses the better H-IPS same as the HP lp247w which got rave reviews.
Been available in sweden for quite some time already..
Yeah. And it costs a hell lot more here in Europe. :(
I miss my old S-IPS Dell. Best monitor I've ever owned. Shame I had to sell it to clear debts. :(
Still waiting for the return of 24" tilt and swivel models.
Pretty sure it's adjustable. The base looks like the one on the 2209WA.
Available in the UK - £573.85 inc VAT and shipping.
Aiming for this for my Photoshopping needs. Waiting for reviews before I throw out my 30kg 19" LG.
thats really a helluva bang for the buck!
i mean, you can get tn-based displays for really little money these days, eben with 26" and up, but ips for that price is really great
Finally! Does it have the card readers built-in on the side?
At current exchange, $599.00 = £362.17. But it's on sale at Dell's UK site for £573.85. That's almost a 60% price increase!
636.84€ here in Spain that translates in 927.208$ or 560.629£... nice going, dell!
If you plan on buying more than one, it could pay off to just take a plane to US an buy them there.
Hey, Eurowhiner. Stop your bitchings about DELL, and talk to your own tax-happy and VAT-happy and customs duty-happy and import tax-happy and environmental fee-happy Eurofools governments.

Ive got two of these bad boys and they are great.
That should be 10bit i presume. (10bit=1024 shades/channel =1,07billion colors,12bit=4096/channel =68,7billion colors.)
I cannot say that I really know what would be a better monitor to have: an sPVA panel or an IPS panel.
Go compare the HP lp247w (h-ips) and the HP lp2275w (s-pva). There are reviews on both here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/.
Screw the U2410, I want the U2710 I found in their defective pixel policy page:

Thank you Dell! A nice 1920x1200 monitor.
The rest of you monitor makers take heed! I want monitors, not TV's. Give me 16:10 ratios, or at worst, 4:3 ratios. None of this 16:9 crap.
A-frickin'-men brother.
Agreed.
+1000
1080 pixels vertical in a 24-inch TV may be considered HD, but it really irks me when monitor manufacturers call a 24-inch monitor with 1920x1080 freaking "HD"
How is this better than my 1920x1200 HP LP2475w which covers 100% of the Adobe RGB gamut ? It's about the same price, a little cheaper even.
the 12-bit processor maybe?
OMG UR A N00B HA HA UR USIN TN PANEL UR SO N00B YA FRICKIN' N00B
Dammit, Dell. So close...
Add a model with a built-in webcam and I'm sold.
