Dell 24-inch U2410 IPS monitor sneaks out for $599 US retail

Already seen in Japan, the 24-inch UltraSharp U2410 professional monitor is up for retail on Dell's US store. The IPS-panel features a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, 6-ms response, 178-degree viewing angles, 1000:1 typical contrast, and 12-bit internal processing (1.07 billion colors), and 96% AdobeRGB and 100% of sRGB color space coverage. Connectivity options are vast with jacks for DisplayPort, DVI, HDMI, component, composite, and VGA. That's a lot of rig for $599. Hit the link below if you just have to have it since you won't find it promoted on the Dell US monitor pages just yet.

It looks like a nice step up from the Dell 2408wfp. If they use the next gen panels rather than the TN, this is an amazing deal. I have (2) of the 2408's and I love them, but this looks like a very worthy upgrade, especially for the price.
marc, this sucker is definitely NOT an "upgrade" over the 2408. Frankly, it does not even look like it is on par with it.
Rick V, yeah, this one is indeed a "same old, same old" design. Nothing whatsoever is in the cutting-edge category here. Rather boring as monitors go, no?
Jason Litka, why do you suppose this one will do any better in the angle of view department than the 2408 ever did?
Sinne it is not LED backlit, I would not get this U2410 or U2710 for that reason alone.
ant, the U2410 allegedly does portait mode as well:

All in all, this model may indeed bew "new" for North America, but otherwise, it is anything but new. Enjoy!
I'm surprised that a) this doesn't have LED backlighting and 2) they didn't refresh the design (much).
Just ordered through my Dell rep. Should be here in a week or so.
Hopefully this is a lot better than my 2408WFP. I hate doing photo work on that thing because I end up having to look at it from a half-dozen different angles to make sure that everything in the shadows and highlights is the way I want it, otherwise I get surprises on printing (and yes, my screen is calibrated).
help me calibrate mine. i just got my 2408wfp this week. im going to be doing a lot of photo editing/ artwork. email > nvmz@aol[dot]com
Got here quicker than expected, was just delivered 10 minutes ago. Box is about 20% smaller than the one for the 2408WFP which is nice since the 2408WFP box wouldn't fit in the trunk of my car...
no portrait view? that sux. im sticking to my 2408wfp that can do both.
It does portrait mode.
It's a good thing I don't have any more desk space... I'd probably waste more money to use this with my 2407/2408wfp's and use them with one of them new amd video cards when they come out lol..
Drooool... Of course, you can't really say this until it's been reviewed, but the question in my mind is... "Why pay over $1000 for an NEC when this Dell seems to have equal or better specs for $600?"
its on Canadian site for the highly inflated price of 750.00. Think they missed the memo about the Canadian dollar going up on the way to being on par again?
Ladies and gents, this is an OUTLET-CLASS MONITOR from Dell. Apaprently, Dell peddled it in Europe, but they must have decided it was sub-par for the US market.

Click on "CUSTOMIZE" and you'll end up here -- sort of like in the gutter:

I figured there was something stinky about this one, actually... Same with the u2710, I suppose. That is another oldie.
This is NOT a model for the USA. Dell carries the specs for it only in thir discontuinued and surplus line.
Dell Malaysia was selling it at RM1599 (~USD$450) when they had a weekend promotion 2 weeks back. Now it's back to RM1799 (~USD$520).
Hey, Eurowhiner. Stop your bitchings about DELL, and talk to your own tax-happy and VAT-happy and customs duty-happy and import tax-happy and environmental fee-happy Eurofools governments.
