HTC Hero firmware update peps up the Sense Experience to something usable
Good news for HTC Hero early adopters: HTC has a new firmware update out now for the device, and it considerably speeds up the interface if the multitude of reports to be found on the internet can be believed. Seeing as this was the number one gripe with the overall excellent UI, we're incredibly glad HTC has gotten work on this, and we'll be spending some more time with the device to return our newly tinted impressions. There's a video after the break demonstrating changes, and most actions seems quite a bit quicker and smoother, all the way down to opening and closing the apps menu, and sliding between home screens. The update doesn't really include much else in the way of features, but since it's addressing the main pain point of the phone, we sure don't mind -- and neither will Sprint users, who we suppose will be getting this newly improved interface right out of the gate.

If it's this fast on an old CPU, I wonder how great it would be on some modern hardware... TouchHD Pro with Android and SenseUI please, HTC!
Wow, you guys sure do try really hard to make this phone look as unappealing as possible. And its not even a Nokia phone ...
Sprint employee here. Excited to hear this, as the best agument against competing smart phones is multi-tasking. Hoping that you can run GPS and music at the same time. :)
Can. Have you ever played with Android?
I'm really psyched for this phone. Once October comes around I'm switching to Sprint and getting this phone.
Sprint has really turned it around, I really don't understand how anyone could stay on AT&T unless they travel overseas a lot and really need GSM. Even if you really like the iPhone...Get an iPod Touch. The savings from Sprints much lower priced plans will easily cover that. Better network, good phones, lower prices, what else could you want?
if they did travel overseas alot then the verizon touchpro 2 should be definitely looked into since it also supports gsm and cdma...
Too bad the phone is the newer model and not the futuristic one released in Europe. Even if it's going to be 2g, I just may have to import because it is damn sexy.
the rom on my hero. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRPr4K_mpkM
wow, this is old news...
This is why android is awesome. you continually see new roms pushed out by developers, while ms and apple's OS's get updated at their leisure and your experience. trust me... android will one day rule all.
I like silky smooth
