HTC Leo spotted in the wild, sports gargantuan 800 x 480 display
Those UI elements still a bit too small in Windows Mobile 6.5? It's no problem at all for the HTC Leo, which has been found at last in the wild. The monstrous handset houses what we've heard to be a 4.3-inch screen, and the hardware info screen shows it to be pumping an 800 x 480 resolution with a 1GHz Qualcomm 8250B Snapdragon processor -- excuse us while we allow a tingle to run leisurely up and down our spine. It dwarfs the Touch Pro2 (a largish handset in its own right) in head to head comparisons, and seems strikingly similar to earlier leaks -- even down to that dual LED flash and the Pro.Three moniker on the back.

CDMA or GSM?
Irrelevant question. If a CDMA carrier wants to pick up this phone, then HTC will make a CDMA version. If no CDMA carrier wants it, then they won't. It's that simple. Any phone in the world can theoretically come in CDMA version, it's just a matter of who wants to sell it.
CDGSMA
Device like that...I wouldn't be surprised if they price it near $700.
@Tonicboy
It is a relevant question. You are right, but think of it the other way. If we know what radio it uses, we can narrow it down to which carriers would get it. True it can be changed, but I feel like where it is going has already been determined
Now THAT"S a great gaming device!!!
Quit all this talk about android, call me when you can "theoretically " use a device!! That'll theoretically be the greatest OS
@originator Nope, it has a camera.
Great News!
Now it becomes a bad news since it wont ever come to US
@Abhishek
All smartphones are priced at $700+ when first released, though, so I don't see why anyone should be surprised. It just seems to be the pricepoint they're all released at, regardless of specs.
Holy cow me wants!!!
i was just going to go out and buy a touch pro2... and now this comes along. rumors on release date?
1) no keyboard
2) A long time
3) If you wait for this you may as well just wait for WM7.
@Kamokazi
The iPhone has a slightly smaller screen and now that it does landscape softkeyboard it's not too bad. Would be cool to see one of these with a slide out keyboard though.
But yea, not soon enough, and ungodly expensive.
Just WOW. Why HTC does not release this kind of mobiles with Android...
I was thinking the exact same thing. Why couldnt that be MY G1 or something.
Stupid HTC
Came in here just to say I want that with Android.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone could get Android to run on this It's theoretically possible.
I'm sure that Android with a crappy 528 MHz MSM-7200 series equals a Windows Mobile 6.5 with a 1GHz Snapdragon in speed.
Just came here to say that I don't want this in Android. Has anybody seen the Android SDK? it's absolutely horrendous. All SDKs that Google makes are just a bunch of files and programs thrown together into a zip file. Now look at the Windows Mobile SDK. It has emulators, integration with VS2008, .NET CF. And you don't need to have a special Android Dev phone to test it on.
Several manufacturers are working on it for Android 2.0, due later this year
Android?
Give me WebOS on that sucker!
Penguin: Well I haven't really used the SDK but it definitely comes with an emulator and integration with eclipse.
You are forced to use Java though. Boo.
Ditto the Android request. This is what Android needs. Sense UI and a big, glorious, luxurious handset.
a bit uglier than the HD. but more than makes up for it with the crazy 1GHZ CPU
and that screen size is foot-friendly
This thing with android and a capacitive touch screen (if this uses resistive) would be just perfect. Any carrier who gets this with android I'll switch to them. I'll even go CDMA if needed.
@Penguin
Uh, what are you talking about? Android had an emulator FROM LAUNCH and they just updated it in the latest version. I know b/c I played around with it during the G1 launch (first thing I did since I didn't plan to get an Android phone until the specs match my expectations). And it can be developed in Eclipse just like any java app, so it's really convenient if you have done java development before. It also can be developed in any platform: Windows, OSX, or Linux.
With Winmo you can only use Windows to develop and you have to pay for Visual Studio (Express version is not supported). Of course if you absolutely HATE java then obviously Android isn't for you, since it is similar (I know some people who really hate java), but on the whole Android is a lot more accessible for amateur developers.
Until Windows Mobile 7, Android is a far better OS...
Zune HD needs a screen like that. But also in OLED.
Windows Mobile 7 minimum resolution is that. Shouldn't be long till all their new devices sport it. Although hopefully as a higher dpi.
65k colors! Ha-ha! 2010. 65? 65k colors?? What? No no no no no! Why? I wanted to buy this device, but 65k colors...
And SONY needs to drop the Xperia X3 NOW!
omfg!
65k colors? :/
"65k colors?"
Answer: Windows Mobile.
A good platform that deserves more attention than what MS has been putting into it for the last few years. But that's changing, finally.
Still at 65K colors, this is one KICK ASS handset.
HOLY CRAP! I need a release date!
I wanted to get the HTC Touch Pro 2, but this is making me question everything!
What is the meaning of life? What purpose do I hold in the grand scheme of things? If you drop a cat that has buttered-side out toast tied to his back, will he float?
No kidding.
Goodbye every single other phone option out there, hello Leo.
Dang, 1 Ghz!
This reminds me of an old encarta article of the 90s I read that said it expected us to finally achieve 1ghz processing speeds in computers by 2010. HA! We've got that speed in our phones now, =P
WANT!
maybe an android version htc?
oh and slide out qwerty please.
With battery life measured in minutes, I presume?
+1
Should be as good as the MSM-7200 series due to the 32 nm production.
23 mins
It would have taken less time to do some research than it would have for you to troll that message:
Use the Toshiba TG01 as reference:
http://www.gsmarena.com/toshiba_tg01-2662.php
Battery Standard battery, Li-Ion 1000 mAh
Stand-by Up to 276 h
Talk time Up to 5 h
Oh, and the battery on the TG01 is of a LESSER CAPACITY than that of the Leo's.
TG01 battery = 1000 mAh
Leo = 1250 mAH
@WindowsFTW
Seriously, stop quoting any manufacturers numbers in regards to battery life and open your eyes. And real, independent review of the TG01 complains about the TERRIBLE battery life. E.g.
"We are of the opinion that the 1,000mAh battery of the Toshiba TG01 is unable to maintain the phone working for a decent amount of time in between consecutive charges."
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Toshiba-TG01-Review-review-r_2238-p_4.html
Yes L
I like how that quote referenced a specific figure in regards to the battery life.
Oh, no, wait, it didn't.
For the record, most smartphones require a daily charge anyways. So that's a moot point.
