We get the feeling that few
Rock Band Stage Kits were sold to begin with, but those who proudly plunked down a Benjamin on this when it originally shipped were probably stoked to use it with
The Beatles: Rock Band. Unfortunately for "those people," such a scenario won't ever be possible... at least, not without some serious DIY tinkering on the user end. Harmonix has confirmed to our pals over at
Joystiq that a compatibility patch won't ever be produced for the newest RB title, and when pressed about compatibility with future titles, the rep simply stated that the company "hasn't announced any future titles at this time." Looks like this party's over, folks.
That's really too bad given that The Beatles were all about insane stage antics.
I know! I remember watching a documentary about them in the 80s on stage playing Big Bottom, Sex Farm, Tonight...oh, wait...
The XXXX Band / Hero thing is getting out of hand. Good God.
Is it just me or do I see this as both fail and win at the same time?
I don't know, but your name is emolicious.
+1 both of you.
Man, I thought I was gonna learn a fancy new word, but it turns out emolicious is just emo-licious. T_T
That's pretty crappy of them. It's like buying a steering wheel for a racing game and finding out you can't use it with cars added via an expansion. Really lame. Then again, if you bought this thing you're a dildo anyway.
Doesn't seem like it would take much work on the developers part.
regardless of how lame or cool this kit is..it sucks HMX just stopped supporting it...not that RB3 is coming anytime soon. they also sucked about support for LIPS mics..they said in 2008 was coming....and we are still waiting for RB2 support.
Good, there should be no strobe lights, fog or colors during any Beatles songs. (Well, maybe some fog).
I don't see this as a loss, and it's probably something many people decidedly did not want to be usable with The Beatles Rock Band.
I think the rock band stage kit cues into the actual lighting track of the Rock Band files (which I learned about during the PAX Rock Band Network panel) and it seems the Beatles videos work much differently than simple lighting tracks in RB2 that work across venues. So I don't think it'd be that simple to incorporate now.
As far as future Rock Band titles, anything that works with DLC, exported old songs, and Rock Band Network tracks I think would work with the stage kit as well.
screw rock band, when there is so many games out now in the guitar hero / rock band field, things are getting a bit diluted...
Whoever wasted their money on thing is a complete loser.
I don't think the beatles ever used lights on their live shows... If you play the game, absolutely none of the venues have a single stage light, and since the stage kit syncs with the lights in the game then it would be irrelevant.
I've got a stage kit but come on....the beatles with strobe lights and smoke? I'm glad they didn't support it.
OMFG. Hahahah I didnt think after seeing/hearing about DJ hero, that this genre of game could possibly become more gay. Thanks for broadening my horizons Engadget.
P.S. hahahahaha
Like I want my living room to smell like maple syrup and set some epileptic people off.
Why are you such haters (trolls) on what someone might find to be something to add to the fun of a game? Are flight sticks for flight sims gay? Is a wheel for a racing game gay? How about a fighting controler for whatever fighting game? Is ambient lighting on an LCD TV gay? Get over your "I am way cooler than you and know exactly what you need" attitude and climb back into your moms basement! Who are you to claim "win" or "lose" on someones idea of fun? And no you didn't hurt my feelings about buying it because I didn't.
Wow,
You can pick this kit up for $29.99 from Gamestop.com

Would never think of buying it but at that price its a bargain!!
I have the stage kit and the kids love it, especially when the room gets really smokey from the fogger. It adds another level of fun to the game, the light show is great when it gets really foggy, the lights look like lasers. I bought mine for $40 not a $100. My family really likes the kit, but we kinda of expected it to not work with the Beatles anyway.
For the right price.....and enough drinks ....this kit is a blast.
Lets be honest ROCK BAND is about being idiots with your friends young and old.........the Stage Kit is fun to have....but I wouldn't pay full price for it.
Sucks its not compatible THE BEATLES........but as long as its compatible with ROCK BAND 1 & 2 and ROCK BAND : ACDC......i'm happy.
