Is it really necessary for all of these companies to take down their entire stores when they add a product? I know it's probably for show, but if I was on their store looking for SOMETHING ELSE and the entire store just went offline, that would be annoying. Last I knew, adding one page and amending another didn't require a site overhaul.

Maybe Archos is copying the Zune store, which yesterday did this and Zune was copying Apple, so Archos is copying Zune who is copying Apple?
Too bad Amazon hasn't copied them yet... that could be fun trying to dodge the amazon site being down every minute, hoping to sneak in between construction signs.

Oh good, just what we need: another media player where you have to purchase half of the functionality, and be nagged with advertisements until you do.
LOL. SO completely right its sad.
no wonder my Archos 7 will no longer receive TV listings, there probably going to completely drop the support they never had. They never really worked from the start anyways, making my $99 for the "DVR" station a complete waste of money, but i was at least able to key in area codes from the bay area until i found one that worked, now none of them work.
500 for the Archos, annoying, 100 on DVR station, worthless, 30 on mobile dock, usefull, another 30 on discount plugins from ebay for the Archos, useful..... paying close to 700 on the unit plus accessories and cables and chargers, kinda annoying again.
They dont even support current users, they give BS support when you contact them, my unit as well as im sure a bunch others suffer from constant lockups, crashes and reboots, simple tasks such as pressing on "favorites" in my browser crash the entire unit requiring restart. If the new products are anything like the current IMT models, i would save your money, sure its sexy, sure its cool having everyone say "hey what the heck is that" but this thing is about 2-300 dollars over priced, and even though im not a fan of apple and despise itunes, i have to admit i get more use out of the ipod touch i paid $100 for than my Archos 7

oh yeah, i forgot to mention on the headline, the store is down, but that doesn't automatically mean something will be new, that POC website goes down more times than a escort on Saturday night.

NEW? Archos doesn't do anything new. The IMT A5A is just the Archos 5 with Android. Yet no one will see Android on the orginial A5 even though its the same hardware.

I decided to hold off on buying a Zune HD to see the specs and info about the Archos Android tablet since I'm a huge Android fan.
Don't disappoint me, Archos.
If you want Android, wait for a better one near X-mas. These will not be any good. Trust the current consumers.

Ummmm... they are pumping out yet, another piece of complete garbage that they will want to charge us $500 to BETA test, so 3 months from now, they can decide they have to clue how to fix the 10,000,000 glitches that are plaguing the machine. At which point they will dump the unit and pretty much call all of us that point out they have done this over and over and over and over, liars. Stick it Archos... I'm not falling for this crap again.

I bought an ARCHOS portable media player once ... thinking I could play the Mpeg-4 files from my TiVo ... but after spending $250+ for the device ... I STILL had to purchase the codecs from ARCHOS to be able to play the video files. It was returned immediately for a refund.
I have an Archos 5. My experience with it has not been good. I wouldn't recommend Archos products, except to someone I didn't like.

Is that an android drawer on the right?
That drawer isn't in the Original A5 but it still looks like it is Android on top of their CrapWare OS. The Home button (top Left), the Drop down Menu (far top right) and back button are all Archos.

So what everyone is saying, is stay away from Archos? Thank you for the heads up, I hate companies that don't properly support their products.
"I hate companies that don't properly support" Properly support is an understatement. They have been know to open the device in service repair it and then you get it back with nothing actually done. You send it back saying nothing has been done and then they tell you that the device has been opened by you and it will cost $$$$$ to fix it.
IF Microsoft was actually bothered about realising the Zune HD in the UK, or in fact anywhere outside the US i would buy it. But looks like im going for an Archos if it turns out to be good and not too bulky, as the I Pod touch has turned out to be a big joke, with no major hardware improvements since it was introduced and a still very high price for sub par sound quality and poor video format support.

But it's more likely releasing the new Android 5
And now that the Android 5 is released you can expect no extra F/W updates for the old Archos 5 or 7 models since they drop them like hot potatoes as soon as a new ones released
Take a look at my archos 5 that i have been trying to get them to sort for 6 months the battery is so swollen it’s bust out of the case (breaking the LCD in the process)

The ARCHOS site is down? That must mean they are about to release the TVPortation and Firmware upgrades they promised for my 605 WiFi.
Wait...probably not. f*&k ARCHOS. I spent way too much on my device for the crappy support they provide. Never again with them.
Probably due to semi-dyslexia and being somewhat of a Star Trek geek, I ended up misreading "Archos" as "Archons" — did that happen to anyone else, or just me?
WOW! What a lot of venom. What could Archos have possibly done to deserve it? Oh, wait. Nickle and dime your customers at every turn and then when the POS you sold them breaks, drop them like a hot-potato.
As an EX customer it will be a cold day in hell before I buy anything from them again.
So if I just want this thing for a tablet PC with windows 7, will it hold up?
Are all the problems people have related to the HD TV aspect?
Whats this about not able to play mpegs? Wouldnt running windows avoid this problem?
