The
Mini 110 isn't quite the cutting edge of the netbook space at this point, but HP's found a pretty enticing way to refresh it: a new designer version by Tord Boontje. At first glance it looks like just another intricate pattern printed on the lid, but it's actually a brand new process called "HP Imprint 3D" which adds layers and depth to the design -- you'll have to see it in person to really get a vibe for it, though you probably know right now if you're the sort of person to be swayed by high-end lid etching in your netbook purchases. The good news is that unlike the large premium HP commanded for the original
Vivienne Tam model, the Tord Boontje is a mere $399.
I personally think this is pretty ugly, but HP seems to be doing better about creating some desirable-looking laptops, especially in the Mini line. Anyone see the Envy over at Gizmodo? HP must *envy* Apple quite a bit with that gem. Looks good, though, I can't deny.
Am I the only one who thinks of a doilie when i see this?
well my friend spent $50 more on and HP over an ASUS of equal specs simply because it had some dumb circle art stuff on the lid and palm rest. so they must have some idea how the common consumer thinks. and apparently i don't get it at all.
Yeah - just like a friend of mine. Her ONLY requirement for a laptop was that it was white.
And this aims directly at these people.
mmm, nice, a netbook covered with textured wallpaper.... my grandmother will be pleased.
[/sarcasm]
that lid is going to get so dirty and manky.. not to mention shiny when it gets worn...
eh.. sound like my mother...
As a Tord Boontje fan I'm hugely interested. I own two Tord Boontje designs at home and this fits perfectly with my geekness.
When Ubuntu moves by this, too it is considerably wonderful!
if i buy it at hp.com well it come with the mouse ??
