Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 bundle has a 250GB HDD, $400 price tag

While the Forza 3 set is still an unconfirmed listing, there's no denying the Xbox 360 has just upped its storage capacity options with a 250GB HDD bundle clad in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 emblems. Asking price is $399.99 and that includes the game and two black wireless controllers. Our friends at Joystiq have conjured up some images of the packaging as well as some shakycam footage of the debut from a LA press event, seen after the break.

Update: It's now available for pre-order care of Amazon. Oddly enough it lists only Composite A/V cables for input -- what gives Microsoft, no love for Component?

Good lord, most of the people here posting sound like a bunch of pansy asses, who probably can't even stand the heat when it comes to playing games like Call of Duty. Damn people, grow some balls and man up. If you don't like the price point, then so the fu#k what? Can't there be one posting on Engadget where people don't whine like babies? If you "just bought an Elite" then take the damn thing back, you have a 30-day return policy. You just go without playing a system until November 10th when it is released and then you can pick it up.

If you think the system is ugly, fine, you are entitled to that opinion, it just seems that there are always people whining like school boys who just got their lunch money stolen whenever a new console is released. 250GB hard drive is overkill, in MY opinion, but everyone should have known that Microsoft was going to concentrate on limited edition bundles just like this one at a higher price point than a standard elite. They already announced they would, with the Forza 3 bundle and now this COD6 one. Oh wait, I should say "Modern Warfare 2" bundle so people don't whine about that. Personally I was hoping for a kick ass Arkham Asylum one myself but oh well, they didn't do it, and life went on.

This is a good deal for those looking to get a new system or are die hard COD fans. The game alone is going to run people $65 in stores after tax. A second controller runs $55 after tax. That's $110 right there. An Elite is $325 after tax. So now we are at $435 and we haven't even factored in the 250GB (for people that need that much storage). $435 is the cost after tax for one of these bundles, so think of it as getting the extra space for free. And for you people that don't pay state sales tax, congrats, but you usually get hit with income tax.

I just bought an Elite as well, but I haven't cracked it open, and I can always return it and get my $325 back. Sure, $110 more and I can get this, and I may do it, since I was planning on getting a second controller and the game anyways. The design doesn't jump off the table for me, but its one of the nicer ones I have seen.

And you PS3 fans can suck my Warthog, you boys have been losing exclusivity for a few years now. Sure you have a Blu-ray player and a good one at that, but most of your games are crap and your online service is a joke (how many years did it take for Sony to come out with an online service?). I'd rather pay $40 a year to play on a stable service with a few hiccups now and then.

So buy it it, or don't. Microsoft doesn't care. It's a "limited edition" so it only is produced for a short time just like the Resident Evil 5 one was, etc.

This is too funny. People actually think this is a good deal? Yeah, tack on another $50 for Live not to mention another $99 for a wireless adapter. That's $549 for something that is almost guarenteed to break within the first 2 years of operation. I'll take my PS3 over anything Microsoft throws out there any day of the week. I owned 4......count them 4 xbox 360's. All of them broke. PS3 I am on my first with no issues at all. Add on a wireless controller (49.99) and the game (59.99) to the PS3 and it comes in at around $510 (if the 250gb for $399 rumor is true). That includes a blue ray player, free online play, and includes wireless built in. Face it, the better deal and system is with Sony.

Even if you don’t like it, saving around $110 is a good deal for anything you buy. Plus not everyone needs wireless. Why would you want to use a gaming system with wireless? Maybe it’s ok for a Wii or PS3 because they both have crappy online services, but it would be stupid to hook your 360 up with wireless unless you are sitting next to your router. And if you are next your router then just plug in a cable and save $100.

Plus you shouldn’t be on here complaining about $ and the 360. You’re the idiot who had four Xboxes (last I heard they fixed them for free) before you could even say, "the better deal and system is with Sony."

You know, it's all about what you get for what you spend. I got a blue ray player (you failed to mention that), Free online gaming (works as well if not better than the 360), an interchangeable HDD that I can buy and install easily from any manufacturer instead of a proprietary HDD. And quite honestly, gaming wirelessly is not an issue unless you go out and buy lousy networking hardware. Absolutely no issues on the PSN with wireless gaming. Also you may want to tack on another say $300 for all the years you will have to pay for xbox live. And let me ask you why you would want to go through the hassle of having to return all those broken consoles and wait for a repared one that will break again? Again wasting your time and money. It's all about utility.

i am getting this. i am selling my original xbox 360 to pay off some of the Modern Warfare 2 xbox. i cant wait.!!!!! Hell yea!!!!!!!! i also might buy the modern warfare 2 controllers made by madcatz
