Update: We've finally come up from digging through source code and, sure enough, those images are all in there.
Yeah... I couldn't resist the Tegra...
nor could i. i had an 80 (friend dropped it and HDD started skipping) and now have a 120. there is no practical reason for me to get a Zune HD but i simply could not resist. and now that i hear there is a possibility for Audiosurf right on my Zune i am incredibly pumped. but yes they do have a habit of constantly updating.
Change the sync relationship to "Guest", that way the Zune software won't bother checking with your Zune device, like when you delete a song from your device.
But you do lose some features if your device relationship is set to guest.
It syncs that way to make sure your listening stats are up to date to publish on the social. It's a good thing
I'll stick with my 32gb silver (platinum?) model, now. I can't wait to see what Colorware designs for it.
All I *really* want is a nice leather case. I'd pay $100 for luxurious, form fitting Tumi leather case or something of similar quality. The only suitable, pocketable case I've found is the DLO Jam Jacket. That case doesn't look like it's going to hold up for long.
If it makes any difference, I have a DLO leather case from my iPod Video when that came out. It's held up pretty well. No stitches have come undone, but the corners have rubbed away a bit and lost the black coloring. I was fairly rough with it. I'd say if they still have the same build quality then it'd be worth getting it. BTW, I've since switched to Zune now. Got a 120 GB and just now a 16 HD.
Colorware won't be customizing the Zune HD, they haven't touched any Zune since the 30.

Just wanted to point out to other fellow Zune users (or maybe I'm a bit slow to the social...);
Zune 4.0 software is pretty sweet. I'm running Win 7 64-bit, and had to run setup in Vista compatibility with admin rights, but after the install finished, I was presently surprised. There are a lot of new options; hardware accelerated visuals, xbox connectivity (not that I have an xbox), quickplay, HD support, smart DJ, etc, etc.
Definitely a worthy upgrade, even for those who won't be getting a Zune HD
...yet for some reason it says Smart DJ will take 15 hours to install!?!?!?! And I only have about 11GB of my music loaded into the software
I just finished installing on Vista Ultimate 64.
This shit is incredible. I'm drooling all over the place. Smart DJ is a really important addon feature -- I'm glad they put it in. iTunes would have had a leg up with Genius (even Pandora, which can be easier than making your own playlists if you're strapped for time).
The software seems snappier to me too... especially in the quickplay area.
I was going to wait.. but screw it. Just ordered 2 Zune HDs. One for me, one for the girlfriend :)
I installed on Windows 7 64-bit and did not need to use compatibility mode. As soon as it installed it found a new 4.1 update for the zune firmware though and updated it. So far so good.
thats odd. i have 62GB of music on mine and SmartDJ installed in like 5 minutes. im getting my Zune HD from Newegg someday soon but for now im quite happy with 4.0 and my Zune 120 although i was hoping the firmware upgrade on the device would be more substantial.
SmartDJ is pretty fun. but for some reason it thinks Wu-Tang Clan and Modest Mouse are related artists. no joke
Something weird is going on with my Smart DJ also. Well, just on one of my machines. I have my music (like 100gb) on a server, and on one PC the Smart DJ was up-and-running quickly, and on my other machine it says something like 23 hours to go.
Well, I don't know why it was taking so long, but I decided to reinstall the software (it kept all my settings, however), which did not work. Then I tried just removing my folder of music from the "watched" list. Then re-added it. The DJ was up and running in seconds... Go figure.

This not having the money for a day one purchase might be a blessing in disguise. My Brown 30 is still doing great since launch. Might see how long can hold out. I do wish I could convince Microsoft that handing me one would some how benefit the Zune's placement in the Music world.

Seriously, just received my HD 3 hrs and 9 mins ago. If this thing had a sex hole in it, I would stick my "headphone jack" into it repeatedly, and my GF would probably leave me because of it. I am currently readying myself to rail a line of 40mg OxyContin of of it,because now these are my 2 favorite things in life. But seriously, I haven't even ordered yet,shite, don't even have the money yet. And even more sadly, I have no OxyContin, but just lame ol' Vicodin :) IPHONE RIP!

There's a difference between "source" and "bins." Newbs. You cannot get "the source" to "peruse" unless you work at MSFT on the Zune team.
The BestBuy I went to had 8 32GB and they all sold out in less than two hours. They had 16 16GB's but only had 5 in the cage at the end of the day, so I'm sure it's safe to say the Zune HD seems to be selling quite well.
I want one really bad but since i couldnt get the 32GB in black i didnt order it today. I'm glad, that atomic looks sexy as hell.
I downloaded the Zune Software and i like it so far. Is there a way to edit the song info and leave the Album section empty? It won't let me save like that and it's annoying the hell out of me
