AT&T, Sprint, Verizon all signed up for WinMo 6.5 launches on October 6
Microsoft is saying that three of the US' big four carriers -- AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon, to be specific -- will be hitting the ground running with Windows Mobile 6.5 as part of its synchronized global launch on October 6. We've got to give Microsoft some credit on this one: launching a single device around the world on the same day is a feat in itself, but coordinating with countless manufacturers and carriers to get them to launch a bunch of different devices on the same day takes things to an entirely different level. Unfortunately, that's about all we know; hardware hasn't been unveiled, though we can safely guess that HTC will figure into the equation one way or another -- and we wouldn't be surprised to see something like LG's 20-key GW600 finally bow. What's everyone hoping to see out of these guys on day one?

It would be a great day for AT&T to announce their flavor of the Touch Diamond 2 and/or Touch Pro 2, hopefully with a 3.5mm headphone jack given the wait. It's crazy to think that the carrier that first launched the Kaiser TyTn II/8925 as well as the Touch Pro is dead last in launching the former's spiritual successor. Considering my lack of upgrade availability along with AT&T's lack of announcement, the Xperia X2 is beginning to look like an option.
The Omnia II on Verizon should be a no-brainer. And yeah, if AT&T doesn't release their version of the Touch Pro2 that day, I don't think they ever will release it.
From AT&T, I'm hoping they'll release the Tilt 2 and the new iPAQ. Maybe the OS "upgrade" for the Samsung Jack too. Verizon's got the Omnia 2 and Sprint is probably about OS upgrade for the Touch Pro 2, an "upgrade" for the Snap, and releasing a Touch Diamond 2 maybe.
Absolutely all about the Omnia II.
I'll do my best to refrain from making any sounds resembling 'squee!'
I expect some good WinMo devics without the crazy $350 prize tag. Something to compete with the $99 iPhone 3G and $199 iPhone 3GS would be good.
I was planning on getting the new Touch Pro 2, but I guess it only has WinMobile 6.1. Should I wait, or will I be able to just update it with the new OS version when it comes out?
I just got a TP2 from Verizon and am actually returning it today. I'm really sick and tired of WinMo 6.1. Honestly, it is garbage and if you have something like the TP2 with TouchFlo3D it is basically so sluggish it isn't worth bothering. Hopefully 6.5 is a big upgrade, but all signs point to it just being a visual upgrade. So with that being said, if you like 6.1, don't wait. If you don't, wait and see.
I don't know if I do. This'll be my first smartphone since I had a Visor Deluxe with a phone plug-in device.
Definitely Fortress (TP2) for AT&T..
I think T-Mo already launched TP2.. so the best they can probably do is offer a ROM upgrade, which I'm sure they will do.
