Conceptual Xbox 1080 handheld beautifully merges Xbox and Zune

Carl Archambeault: you sir, are a champion. We're not exactly sure if you're on a first-class seat to Redmond or not, but the boys and girls in Washington could probably stand to learn a thing or two from the Xbox 1080. 'Course, that's probably just the fanboy in us talking -- after all, who wouldn't want the powers of an Xbox 360 and a Zune HD merged into one beautiful handheld? -- but could you imagine the market shakeup if this thing became real? The Zune HD is not large. An attachment of this sort would make it only a little wider and much thinner than a DSi.

But in all seriousness, this is a really great function over design concept and definitely good for actually playing games comfortably (unlike the stupid psp go...) But it is FAR from a beautiful handheld.

Pretty sure that not even Ben Heckendorn could fit all that hardware into such a small shell... Then of course there's battery power to consider...

Maybe in another 4 or so years if the current hardware gets substantially smaller? A 360 slim would be a good sign that it might be possible one day...

This is JUST what MS needs to do, though I think the above creation is ugly as sin, personally.

Make an Xbox 360 controller w/ a spot for the HD up top, and then the device can function as a stand-alone portable gaming device, AS WELL AS offering a second display when gaming on the Xbox 360/big screen.

You're right. Not only is it ass ugly, but it's not pocketable, either.

I'm not sure how necessary it is that a portable gaming device is able to fit into your pocket, though. I LOVE the way the xbox 360 controller feels in my hands. I wouldn't think it possible for me to LOVE any controller design that fits perfectly in my pocket.

The current Xbox 360 already does 1080p, so "Xbox 1080" is a dumb name. (Actually, if we follow the same logic, the Xbox 1080 would then be able to pump out 4K resolution, or what?)
