so no stylus then?
Nope. Looks like Waycom is branching of a bit. It's funny though, I'd have expected a product like this from Logeetech before Waycom. Logeetech generally makes more external mouse/trackpad type products (tablets work different than this, trust me).
Nope, even tried my Intuos3's pen and it didn't work. BUT - the video tutorial on the CD said that "some" Touch devices support both Pen & Touch, there's some kind of software auto-switch depending on what you're using (so it doesn't pick up your palm when drawing). I'm guessing this will be a feature on the Intuos Touch, or something...
Meanwhile here's a Quick Review video:

it's really no big deal anyways, since the bamboo has always been aimed at consumers/novices so no stylus won't really make a difference to anyone that needs one, plus there's always the old one.
I imagine since this is nothing more than an oversized trackpad that you can use something like this iPhone Stylus that also works with trackpads, that is if its a glass trackpad. http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/cellphone/b8dd/
@ doteyes9: Yeah, but then (1) you're not going to get any line variation (like you would with a pen-based tablet, which responds to pressure & angle), and (2) you can't do multi-touch gestures, just single-finger ones. Cool that they've got a pen widget that can act on capacitive screens, though! I think I remember seeing a finger or thumb-cap that did that, too. iPhone glove or something?
No, because multitouch is SOOOOO USEFUL.
After all, who needs to do anything but zoom and rotate, zoom and rotate, through years of hype?
I've got one, if you read the user manual they mention other Wacom Touch models with touch and pen. It sounds like they are upgrading the entire Bamboo suite.
$69 is a really good price. This willl be great with Windows 7.
mmmmm windows 7... this makes my tummy tingle
once the British weaksauce shows it us in action, then maybe.
or buy new monitors with touch capability. theyre all comign out next year.
waycom..... really?
logytech....really?
peynis.. really?
Ok, ok, I apologize.
Labtop....really?
I'm from New England. We invented American English. Everyone *else* talks funny.
;)
your face??? really???
I'm from a Banana Country. We invented American Engrish. Everyone *else* talks funny, and my pencil is red.
:3
i'm from indonesia, we invented American English. Everyone *else talks so funny.
Might get.
Gimme a big one with pen support and I'll be a very happy camper.
So Derek, you like "big ones" ?
Alright, juvenile jokes aside I am very surprised that no one mentioned only supporting "two fingers"...LoL
I thought you said juvenile jokes aside...
I'd really like to see a demo of what exactly you can do with this. I have one of the pen ones, but hardly ever use it in photoshop and only in illustrator if I'm trying to write something by hand.
If you can use it to zoom in and out like the iPhone then that's sort of neat, but other than that its a lot like the thing embedded in my laptop.
was this sh*t bumped?
no, but you were...
ZING!
"Ooh, that's little."
That's what she said.
People need to stop bitching about there not being a stylus. The $69 model is touch only. The $99 model INCLUDES A PEN and still does multitouch.
Thats one expensive plastic shaft.
@Teslanaut
Wacom pens are a fair bit more advanced than your runofthemill plastic stylus.
but do other Wacom pens work with the $70 multitouch model? Cause I have the $200 Bamboo, and honestly wouldn't mind replacing it with this if it at least supported the Wacom pens. I never thought the larger version would be too big, but it is.
Thats what she said.
@levi
practically set up the "thats what she said" for the rest of us
I'm uploading a quick video review in HD, should be ready in about an hour. I'll post a link when it's done.
Done yet?
Now? :D
Does it allow you to do the chinese character input in Snow Leopard?
No stylus support is pretty odd if you ask me. I mean $69 is cool for what it is, but I can't imagine using it next to my original Wacom Bamboo with the pen. Too many devices and takes up to much room. Overall, I do want.Somewhat............OK, ALOT!
BTW...It's "wa" like saying "water" , and "com" like in "dot.COM."
WACOM!
You're clearly not from the Southeastern PA/NJ area. There's more than one way to pronounce 'water'!
Do restaurant staff come to help you when you pronounce it your way? If so, you may be doing it wrong.
So....... It's a giant touchpad, right?
yep
Right. I have a touchpad I don't use now, why would I spend $69 for a second one? Multitouch? Meh.
@I_am_joes_liver
You wouldn't. And I can't believe they didn't think of you when they decided to mass produce this. NOW, what are they going to do with all this inventory?
Some executive is getting canned because they didn't check with you, that's for sure!
Yo, MacBook, hold on, I'm happy for you, and I'll let you finish, but Wacom has the best touchpad ever.
i hope somewhere between tablet found at Best Buy and unboxed on video, there was a purchased phase
the guy in the vid says he PAID $75ish after tax.
Yeah...looking at the receipt now:
$69.99 - Bamboo Touch (CTT460)
$4.20 - Item Tax
$74.19 - Total
About the price of a high-end mouse...I think my Logitech VX Revolution was about that price when it was new. Not bad, but I hope they make a model that can do more than 2 finger's worth of inputs :p Intuos Touch?
