Epson blows the roof off of your house party with two new projectors

Epson's just announced two new additions to its home theatre lineup which should make your bi-weekly showing of House Party even more of a success than usual. First up, the PowerLite Home Cinema 705HD boasts a 720p resolution, a brightness of up to 2,500 lumens, and 1.2x optical zoom. The 705HD is an entry-level HD projector, so its pricing -- $750 -- is a bit less than some other models. The other model the company's outing is the MovieMate 60, a combo affair housing a 16:9 native resolution-having projector, plus a built-in dvd player and two 10 watt speakers. The projector has a brightness of up to 2,000 lumens. The MovieMate 60 retails for $650 -- and both are available now.

More importantly, who do you like better, Kid, or Play?
Kid all the way.
Well.... Kid is doing really bad local TV commercials... and Play was a dead-beat dad for a while and I think is now a minister.... so over all I think its a tie...
I thought both of these guys were dead I'm surprised they're still alive....
It's sad when the picture gets more comments than the Epson toaster. It's a toaster right?
Martin Lawrence FTW!
I miss Robin Harris. That dude was freakin' funny. :(
"toaster" lol, I only paid $30 for mine, thats some over-priced kitchen gadget!
Just the careers died....
That was an ATROCIOUS movie.
Seriously,
is this a technology I should look into over a 60" (or so) LCD for my gameroom?
I have a rather large room and am looking to replace the rear proj. I have in there now.
I guess I could ceiling mount it with a nice screen.
Would have to be quite clear, and not show the normal skipping on fast action.
Dave,
You should definitely look into it. Front projection technology is awesome not to mention jaw dropping if you have the space. Once you watch movies or play video games on a 100+" screen, there is no going back. Head over to avsforum and check out some of the threads over there. There is a wealth of knowledge and some great ideas for setting up the perfect home theater. Right now I have a free Infocus projector and a manual pull down screen but, it still blows peoples minds. For the price of a good 52" LCD you can get a good projector and screen. Not to mention depending on room size, three times the screen size!
I concur. I have an Optoma 700x (link below) projected onto my wall, with a Sony Blu-Ray player and Will running through it, and it's literally awesome. Totally revolutionised home movie watching for me, and in the UK the price / quality ratio of the projector compared to a HDTV is pretty good, considering you get nearly a 100" screen.
This Epson looks like it'll be an excellent entry-level model too- with a really good warranty, and an excellent brightness. The one detractor of the Optoma 700x is that it's not really bright, meaning good blinds are a must. I think you should totally look into a projector mate.
Btw, a PS3 looks a-mazing through my projector. Killzone 2 was breathtaking.
Optoma 700x:

Sigh.
I have a Wii plugged into the projector, not a guy called 'Will'. Comment fail.
Only twice a week..?
You know what I miss about html links? When they actually took you somewhere.
"You're running 'round town like a dog in heat. Me and my boys, can't be beat. Everywhere you go we can smell you like gas, and we're gonna..."
"Way down in the jungle deep, The bad ass lion stepped on the signifyin monkey's feet. The monkey said, "Muthaf*cka, can't you see? Why, you standin on my goddamn feet!"
Ha ha ha hell's to the yeah.
'Off of' :(
Am I having a flash back today or are you Engadget? Top post has Lisa Frank wall paper phone, then I scroll down here and see a Kid & Play movie, am I in 1990 again? Guess I better get back to second grade, pick up my Super Soaker, place my Ninja Turtles headband around my head and start my walkman, which has the only cassette I will ever need in it, Please Hammer, don't hurt 'em. ;)
Ah the good ol' days
Oh and if anyone finds my old, neon Surf Rags jacket, let me know :p
This movie is gonna make House Party look like House Party 2.
i'm crushed that this is not actually a story about that genius movie. I'm from a town call fresh off a cop's ass and you makin me homesick. RIP Robin Harris.
"a combo affair housing a 16:9 native resolution-having projector"
WTF is that supposed to mean? Every fixed-pixel display device has a native resolution, duh. WHAT IS IT?
Why the picture change?
I smell the copyright police...
