Thanko is a brand forever tied to crapgadgets. It can, however, surprise us occasionally as it has with its new Microsports MP3/WMA/WAV player in 2GB (¥4,980 / $55) or 4GB (¥5,980 / $66) models. Measuring 16×25×22mm / 8g, it's about the size and weight of an average Bluetooth headset. And while we've seen similar micro players strung from lanyards, this is the first we can recall with an integrated ear-bud -- the second bud attaches via USB-cable for stereo audio. Looks comfy, eh?
This is where Engadget's headline formats just don't work. Their annoying use of commas in place of the word "and" means this headline reads "Thanko Microsports MP3 player is small and really small". Doesn't make sense.
I'd suggest you pull out your Strunk & White and read up on the comma. You'll be surprised to learn that it's used for more than just a substitution for conjunctions.
I hope it comes with a pair of those ear-hook instead of just one though. Would be nice for running, less likely to bang around and fall out, no long cables to get fankled.
I prefer the Sony version, it has been released like 2 years ago and is waaaaay more comfortable then this piece of crap, it is also more suited for sports activity and it has Sony sound quality instead of the noname brand crap
This is what I thought apple should have done with the new shuffle, basically make it an in-ear mp3 player, at least then it would have a reason for being so damn small!
this would be good for certain work situations. if your job is real boring and you'd get in trouble for using a music player, just put this baby in your ear and if you have hair, cover your ear a little bit and that would be good enough to get you through the day, every day! i was actually trying to find a tiny bluetooth earbud just for this purpose! this microsports mp3 player seems to be a really small solution to all of that.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
Should have added micro SD slot as music storage option.
Interesting thing for the gym if it doesn't fall out of the ear easily...
This thing is Liberace gay.
What!? No LED display!
LCD even.
still a crapgadget
Seems daft that the USB connecter is nearly as big as the whole device
What happens if the earbuds suck?
Why not Bluetooth to the other earbud?
Thanko....
Oh noes, now Apple will have to change all it's "world smallest music player."
.... yeah... that'll happen.
I lolled, really lolled.

What is Engadget's fear of the word "and"??
Dan,

@ Dan,
A comma was used to break the sentence up, not replace the word "and".

Wow. Grammar critique fail, really fail.
Small player is small.

Those crazy Asians with their awesome crapgadgets.
Yea but is it as small as cellinear (in ear cell phone)? Not...

And it only costs 59$
Fahrenheit 451.
... How the hell do you control that thing?
Well, if it's connected right to your ears, the only logical answer is through brainwaves.
Or those little hinge-like things might work, too. The website says the circle is something, too, but I can't read that kanji.

Wow that's some rough engineering / tooling there.
