Is this Sony Ericsson's Android-powered XPERIA X3?
As always, Mr. Blurrycam isn't doing us any favors here, but we're cautiously optimistic that the image you see above is one of the first real glimpses at Sony Ericsson's forthcoming XPERIA X3. Granted, the WinMo-packin' X2 is still in its infancy, but every true SE fanboy knows that Android is where it's at. The skin, which is obviously early in development, is definitely unlike anything we've ever seen, and while we can't make out much about the hardware, the general shape certainly jibes with what we'd expect an X3 to look like. Le0n_Pro's original post is down there in the read link, but we just couldn't leave well enough alone; thankfully, he was kind enough to gift us with a gallery's worth of (admittedly shaky) shots. Dig in!
[Thanks, Le0n_Pro]
Update: Looks like someone actually got ahold of a white version. Real? Fake?

ok now nobody get the x2!
Indeed! lol
" The skin, which is obviously early in development, is definitely unlike anything we've ever seen"
You do realize there is no skin there? That's stock as android comes
Yea... this looks no different than the 30 or so other android phones that have been shown here... This is as android as you can get
@originator: You obviously have missed the videos of the leaked X3 UI. Hit the link, will ya?
The X3 will match up nicely with HTC Leo. If the rumored specs are correct then the X3 has slight advantage with 8MP camera and some internal memory. From there though its a matter of preference between Android and WinMo. I, for one, have been waiting eagerly for both these devices but the Touch Pro2 with its incredible keyboard is still currently the best and I am about to get it.
I heard some heresay about there being ads on Android? Is this true? Because if so that would be a HUGE con for me. (It's unfortunate for the Zune HD as well; it looked pretty good.)
No fanaticism please. WinMo with TouchFlo 3D, Android and other open source OSs, and iPhone's OS are all great on the basis of design, usability, and ORGANIZATION. I don't care how far into the OS you can customize, if it doesn't organize and display my data properly, I don't care much for it.
Normally, I'm not a touchscreen only lover, but this thing makes me wanna chuck my G1 out the highest building window...and is even making me turn my head away from Sholes...X3...DO WANT!!
i need a fone that contains nuclear battery technology with nanoparticle sponges for radiation absorbtion. Then i will have enough power to put any processor into it.
windows mobile got dumped, once again.
With devices like the HTC Leo coming out and WinMo 6.5 and 7, it looks like WinMo is about to regrow into what it was in its Glory days.
Um, dude, a lot of great devices are still coming with Windows Mobile. Xperia X series are `meh` at best, so Sony can do whatever the heck they want with their phones, really.
The REAL phones (and by real I'm not talking about toy phones like the iPhone, mind you), such as the HTC Touch Pro2, Toshiba TG01 and HTC Leo all use Windows Mobile, and hardware wise, they're the best out there. Now if you're pretty sleek in your own way, chances are you have flashed a ROM or two using sites such as PPCGeeks or XDA-Developers to hack in whatever the heck you want into Windows Mobile.
With Windows Mobile 7 coming around the corner, things are only bound to get better from here on out.
My touch pro is loving its Energy ROM from XDA!
Game over for WinMo if SonyEricsson, the last remaining WinMo handset maker to abandon
WinMo. MS Project Pink has become a reality for MS now that WinMo OEM business has
finally demised.
If sony were to abandon wm because of their one unsuccessful product (possibly two) then its their own damn fault. They made one device that was more hype than delivery and are releasing another with one of the main problems that plagued the first (the shit processor) for a price that is way beyond what the device is worth. They had a chance to make the x2 great by going snapdragon (toshiba did it), even if they wanted to charge a premium for it. But to charge a premium for the x2 with the same crapcomm processor? They must have been out of their minds.
Good riddance to them.
Discussing with WinMo haters is just as pointless as discussing with Apple fanboys... Oh wait, aren't they the same?
Despite MS is announcing their vaporware left and right, MS continues to lose OEM partners
at alarming rate. At this rate WinMo market share could easily shrunk below 5% in the coming
months. Perhaps, WinMo is losing their install base faster than Palm?
The X2 and X3 were developed at the same time and anyone who knows anything about SE phones were aware of their simultaneous existence. Just because an OEM makes an Android handset doesn't mean they are abandoning the other platforms. See HTC Hero, Leo.
...but don't let logic get in the way of blind hatred. Carry on.
It is quite frightening for MS if you do the math. Assuming the OEM partners willing to pay money for WinMo junk and make 50% WinMo and 50% Android (Best Scenario), WinMo has lost 50% revenue. Add that to the market share lost to BlackBerry, iPhone, Pre and you now WinMo without shirts and pants. :) No wonder MS is shitting in their pants and
keep announcing vaporware while the competitors working quietly. :)
ok lets get this straight. The most powerful phones on the market are coming with Windows Mobile. There are still numerous OEMs still backing it (this still includes Motorola) and there will be two OS version out in the market in the next year or so.
I think the Android fans out there are slightly bitter that they have to wait before they can get the hardware Windows Mobile gets. Read the comments to see this.
If a company chooses to to go 50-50 (Andoid and WinMo) it more likely means they are trying to increase their Market share by reaching a wider audience.
@Brad - your math makes the stupid assumption that the OEM will still be selling the same volume and both sets of devices will be equally as popular.
Then again just use the phone you like and dont be too envious of WinMo Hardware.
Maybe that's a good thing after all. If everybody dumps Winmo, then MS can produce a phone of their own with the added advantage (a la iPhone) that is being kept on a controlled environment where they control the hardware and software. For sure the result would be great.
looks nice.
that is a large screen. also, how come mr blurrycam doesn't upgrade his freakin camera?? its 2009 for cryin out loud!!
If mr. Blurrycam upgrade his camera, then he would have to upgrade his screen name to "mr. Blurrycam-HD"....or something like that
back to the topic....that is one sexy looking screen. I love the way they make their own "slide-to-unlock" screen lock. Definitely better than stock android's screen lock and look sleeker too.
If this thing has qwerty keyboard, 3.5mm jack, FM radio, and Tmo HSDPA band, then I will reconsider my plan for getting Motorola CLIQ. That screen look very delicious.
Mr. Blurry-Cam-HD...
lmao, +1.
@ichigoismyhomie
Dude i'll be surprised if that phone even makes it to America. How many high end SE phones make it here? Of course, this is Android so maybe it'll be different (crosses fingers). And I doubt from those pictures that it has a physical keyboard but that would be nice
@Nelagster:
I know it's a wishful thinking, but one can only wish. I know none of the US carrier will carry Xperia series phone but I can always get it unlocked (and pay crazy amount of money for that too).
The fist Xperia has Tmo HSDPA frequency band (not carried/subsidized by Tmobile), so that's why I'm hoping this one will have the same band too. I don't mind paying a pretty large amount of money in exchange for freedom to use this Snapdragon-powered, Android-OS loaded phone without any contract. Say what you want, but I don't like commitment (I said the same thing to my GF too...lol)
Besides, there's always ebay or some shady 3rd party Tmo dealers in chinatown that will get me this phone
If we go about wishful thinking...
I want HTC Touch Pro3 with Snapdragon processor, 512 RAM, 4" OLED screen with resolution of 854x480, same awesome keyboard, speakers and tilt as Touch Pro2, dual-touch capacitive screen you can use a stylus on, Windows Mobile 7 with TouchFLO 3.0, 5MP camera on both back and front, WiMax chip, at least 8 hours of battery life when talking, same size or smaller than current Touch Pro2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, all audio and video codecs/containers supported, including H.264+FLAC in .MKV format.
Did I miss something?
@ mega-japan
Hmm....That's quite a wish list, but I found some discrepencies. You want "4in. OLED screen" that has "same size or smaller than current TP2"? current TP2 only has 3.6in screen (based on GSMarena spec) so I don't know how will that "4in. OLED screen" can be same size or smaller than 3.6in. screen (unless you doing some meta-physics measurement or something)...
also 5mp front-facing camera is kinda overkill don't ya think (especially if you using any US wireless carrier...unless you ARE residing in japan)? The rest of the stuffs i kinda agreed with you, but Nokia N900 already has most of that features you listed above. It's not snapdragon, but it's the next best thing for now.
@ichigoismyhomie:
It's fairly possibly to fit a 4" screen in the TP2 form factor. Notice how I said 854x480 resolution? This is to make the screen 16:9, hence wider, taking out the zoom bar (since you'll be zooming using dual touch), and reducing the borders, a 0.4" increase can be EASILY done.
I agree that the front camera might be overkill, but here I hope, that with WiMax and LTE, America moves into video call, one can only wish. Also would be great if it can record in 720p HD.
Again, that's like a true DREAM phone.
No pun intended G1 owners...
Because it wouldn't be the same ol' Mr. BlurryCam.
Apparently it's snapdragon powered so this should be one awesome phone!
"Also, if X2 has a year old processor, people should bring their expectations down with regards to Rachael. That too is a good device but the hardware is not as hot as it could be."
This comes from a very reliable source off the esato forums (Largest SE forum).
Im not saying he is right, but he has been pretty much always been correct. but remember, all we know at the moment is mostly speculation. X2 was supposed to have 3.5 oled now it has 3.2 tft.
It would be a dream, but im not holding my breath
WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5 AND 7. FREE THOSE TWO GUYS. FREE THE BEASTS. SHAME TO EVERY OTHER MOBILE OS OH EXCEPT NOKIA MAEMO.
It's about time that they move away from Window Mobile.
Good , death to the current winmo! , If they make winmo like the zune interface then great, I hope it works out, but the current setup is horrible
Finally an android phone with some juice under the hood. Android & Snapdragon. I think i'm in love
no Hero skin? i mean honestly, the stock android skin is hideous. where's the Rachael skin they showed off? slap it on already!
Cant wait, but how much will it be?
probably around 140-170g.
Die.
it's a fake, look at this pic that i've enchanced exposure of... it's photoshoped parts stick together......
nice try though...
http://bayimg.com/image/aaegmaaca.jpg
Looks like Éclair.... Signs of things to come..
Eclair also supposedly has BFS which makes the Hero builds run fast even on the G1. It'll be amazing on a snapdragon phone.
u wish bud
Looks great. If it does have the power they say its my next Android Phone. Love my G1 just could use something a little more upbeat.

Must be an OLED screen, look how washed out it is in the bright light of the flash.
hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, been eagerly awaiting the X3 and LEO, which one to get, which one to get??????
That's easy. If you prefer android you should get the X3. If you prefer Winmo, you should get some counseling.
