New Android Market finds its way into latest Cyanogen ROM
Can wait to check out the new and improved Android Market slated for inclusion in the upcoming Android 1.6 release? Then it looks like you won't have to wait for the official release after all. You will, however, need a rooted Android device, and the latest, less-than-official Cyanogen ROM. Among other updates and fixes, it includes what appears to be the very same Android Market revision that's headlining Android 1.6 (a.k.a. Donut), and includes such enhancements as a bright new look, screenshots of apps, and a number of new browsing options to help you find what you're looking for. All rooted and ready to go? Then hit up the link below to get started.

I have a UK T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Hero). Does anyone know if the Cyanogen ROMs work on this or are they only for G1s? Don't really want to brick my phone finding out that they don't work
I believe they will work, but don't quote me on that.
Head over to the xda developers forums, it's a haven of help and advice (most of the time)
No, they don't yet work with the Hero, but should do soon. I have the TMO UK Hero too. The latest Modaco ROM is about the best in terms of speed etc, works like a treat on mine.
Could someone elaborate on what Cyanogen ROM is doing for speed, which the official release just can't seem to be capable of?
In my experience it's mildly faster but as long as you're installing stuff with background processes (which includes the large majority of apps worth having on Android) then it's going to slow down sooner or later. You're never going to get the lightning quick response times that you see on the iPhone just because it's multitasking less-than-perfectly programmed apps at all times. It's the price you pay for superior utility, I suppose, there's no real way to guarantee that the UI will remain responsive 100% of the time.
A bit of a custom ROM noob here, but I have managed to succesfully root&flash to Cyanogen 4.1.5.
Is it quick and easy enough to change up to the new one and change down to the stable one with no problems? Will I lose everything again or will it all remain now that I have the CM Updater app?
Really interested in sampling this new ROM, but justput everything back on my phone and don't know if I can be bothered doing it all over again!
You can usually upgrade with the CM Updater app without losing your data, but keep in mind that this is never a guarantee. Any time you upgrade or downgrade there is always a chance that something might not work quite right and the only applicable solution is to wipe everything and start over. If you really want to reduce the chance of wiping as much as possible, stick strictly to the stable builds and only upgrade, never downgrade.
I have been using this rom for sometime now and lately i have been experiencing force closes every time i open the market app.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Does anyone know how i can fix this?
