Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 lovingly unboxed on video
We'll confess - Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X2 is going to have quite the time attracting attention now that the Android-equipped X3 is all but confirmed, but those who aren't yet ready to ditch Windows Mobile may be interested in seeing the first video unboxing of the Q4-bound smartphone. Unfortunately, the actual box that it's emerging from is one of those ultra-plain units given to employees and the like when carrier testing is in full swing, but hey -- a box is a box. Have a peek in the read link below, but be sure to bring a cup of patience. You'll see.

The iPhone Killer!
Yeah right. How many times are people going to keep saying this. It's winmo and it will be junk just like the last Xperia.
Considering how much productivity I'll be losing from using WinMo, Sony and MS
will have to pay me some serious money to put one in my pocket. The key word
is put, not use. :)
There are must be darn few people that aren't ready to dump Windows Mobile. At this rate, Microsoft should consider buying Palm and take the webOS as their own.
Where's my X3!?!? - and get it running on Android (or something better then Windows Mobile)
than even!?
I''m no buying those craps until microsoft unveil wimo 7...
come on microsoft... what are you waiting for?
those win6.5 are no compare to iphone and palm pre!
Don't care for iPhonez and Palmz but too am having a lot of hope on WinMo 7. Should at least bring 16m color support. AMOLED with 65k colors is kinda... pointless...
I think this phone is a rather slick piece of kit. Between this and the X3, I think one would have a hard time losing either way.
I don't like Sony, they're like the international version of Apple. >_>
I agree but I LOVE their techieness-ness!?
Equation of the day:
SE X2 == HTC Touch Pro 2 - US 3G + $500
SeX2
I'm now really interested
Moral of the day: Americans are idiots.
1) the Touch Pro2 price you see everyday is offset by the fact that you're getting raped for $100 a month on your 2-year contracts. The real, unlocked Touch Pro2 is somewhere in the vicinity of $700.
2) expecting a US 3G frequency on a version of a device that's not going to be released in the US is unrealistic... that's like complaining that they don't sell a left hand drive Corolla in USA.
When would Engadget realize that people who use WinMo for it's Enterprise-savvy features won't give Android a second glance; atleast not with its current feature set?
Probably when they said "those who aren't yet ready to ditch Windows Mobile may be interested in seeing the first video unboxing"
I don't care what OS MS releases, even Wimo 7, I want nothing to do with it. MS hasn't the ability to make an OS that uses low resources & just works. With all the great open source systems being built why on earth would anyone want to use such any proprietary OS, especially if it's from MS. Wimo only advantage for ages was its ability to communicate with Exchange, but with all the advances other OS's are making that advantage is a mute point now.
Already looking not so great... Looks like a typical Nokia phone.
Lövely.
Showing unboxing XPERIA X2 is like displaying undressing 60 year-old: select few will find it interesting, but the general public will be switching channels.
So, when is this coming out to the US? Next year? :P I bet by the time Sony ship this in the US, we would have a lot more Android phone selection (Cliq, Galaxy, Hero, etc).
Ooo... shiny. My X1a is getting jealous.
4 months and counting and it's been great. 800x480 is awesome. I wouldn't give up multitasking for anything.
Admittedly, I do restart it about once a week, but then the ROM is a custom.
Great. But what's Bruno doing presenting it??
iPhone killer, my ars.
The iPhone is a light year a head of all the rest who are trying to copy Apple's iPhone.
iPhone's haters eat your heart out!
lol. thats a pretty enthusiastic comment there. You must somehow profit from iphone sales.
"The iPhone is a light year a head of all the rest who are trying to copy Apple's iPhone."
I had someone who just bought an iphone today say that to me earlier. When we sat down, he realized there was no Wifi for his laptop where we were at. He said we were screwed. I said, here tether my phone, friend.
Then he looked at my phone and asked me what all that business was on the homescreen. Oh, I get push mail on that widget, live facebook there, live feed pic gallery of my friends there, and my most recent calendar/note entries for today here.
He asked me to show him how to do that with his phone. I told him his phone couldn't do that. He said, "WTF? but I've got all these icons...." I told him to open them one at a time if he wants to check anything.
Then another friend came by and we started transferring files to each other and the iPhone douche was like "What are you guys doing?". I told him we were sharing some MP3's.
He asked us to send some to him this particular song I had. I said "Can't man... I'll email to you later. Or if you wait a few seconds, I can download them from my home PC and upload them to my free OVI files account and you can download them via your 'lightyears ahead iphone" browser."
I was taking the train back later that evening feeling somewhat jaded about how 'light-years' behind the iPhone my device was. I just sighed and went about my way. I felt resigned to my fate.
