Alienware launching new M15x laptop and Aurora / Area-51 ALX desktops at TGS
Wondering what all those teasers were about? So were we, and now we've got the skinny on what exactly is looming at the Tokyo Game Show. For starters, you may have noticed that Alienware has completely removed the option to purchase an Area-51 m15x gaming laptop except in refurbished form, and the only desktop remaining in the store is the Area-51 X58, which is conveniently discounted today. The reason? It's launching five of its most powerful creations yet on September 23rd (that's tomorrow, bub), including the quickest 15-inch lappie in the galaxy (the all-new M15x) as well as the dual-GPU Aurora / Aurora ALX desktops. Finally, a refreshed Area-51 and Area-51 ALX will also be on tap, though exact specifications for the whole lot won't be revealed until the 23rd. Oh, and we'll totally be on hand in Japan to provide all the hands-on media you can stand, so stay tuned![Thanks, Anonymous]

Man...Engadget really is on fire. I'd just like to say you guys have been kicking Gizmodo's butt the last couple of month in both quality and quantity of coverage.
And excited to see these new machines even though I won't be able to afford them.
And just for good measures...
In before someone say they can build it for 1/3rd of the price!
Unless they work in a laptop factory somewhere in China, they can't build it.
those 3 icons looks wicked!!
and scary
Awesome! I can't wait to see what the new cases look like. I figured this would be coming when I saw they were selling bare-bones kits in the Gear Shop.
Still happy my laptop and hand-built desktop, but I might get an Alienware laptop at some point in the future.
So what's the price for these super powerful laptops? $10k?
I hate how people act like Alienware charges the same prices they did 5 years ago
the m15x started at a base $1100 with a Core2Duo and Radeon 3850 (or was it 4830?)
that's pretty good for a good looking 7lb 15" gaming laptop
I just hope they don't go overly flashy on the new m15x
I was referring to the fact that the highest end m17x still costs about $5k so if these were more powerful I would assume they would cost somewhat more, even if it is the m15x.
you may be right, we just have to not buy and not cause buzz and the prices will drop again
I noticed the 15-inch disappear of the site a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping for news like this.
Fingers crossed it's not a hideous lump like the m17x.
Hideous lump. Thats my wife you bitch.
"Hideous lump"? Well, a little over-the-top, for sure. I preferred the clean lines of the M15x too, and I hope the case on the new one is similarly clean.
Cool to see this, and I'm eager to find out just what goodies this baby will have. I was planning for a new laptop sometimes next year, and this might just fit the bill!
Oh Kris, you slay me :D
Fair enough, maybe that was a bit harsh :p . Of course, I'd love to own a m17x, but it was just a bit too big and bold for my liking.
With the trend for good looking, sleek laptops recently, I'm hoping Alienware follow suit.
hardcore and casual gamers will be impressed. believe me.
mobile i7 and ati dx11 card please.
I hope the new M15x and whatever else comes out will be reasonably priced more for the effect it'll have on competitors than for Alienware itself. While I'd love an i5 or i7 laptop, the prices are going to be ridiculously expensive for the next while, and yet a reasonably powerful processor and anything faster than a Radeon 4650 is going to start around 1,200. A T9600 and 4850, you're talking around 1600.
I eagerly await Black Friday and the next few months.
hopefully the heat doesn't crack the screen cover/trim like how it did to my m15x...which is now being fixed under warranty...*fingers crossed*
i hope they give the m15x a hover hall on its case. no more cracking hinges and rim light around the screen bleeds threw the surrounding plastic.
I told you guys in their previous post this was going to happen
pshew! pshew!
I thought The Girlie Show
check out the specs/manual: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/M15x/en/index.html
Foundation: unshaken
the case is going to be exactly like the m17x
The only thing now unsure is the GPU
Power...underwhelming...
