Digeo purchased by Arris, promises continued Moxi development, sales and support
After a post-CES "streamlining" resulted in layoffs and left highly anticipated products like the Multi-Room HD DMR to never see the light of day the future of Moxi DVR builder Digeo has remained in doubt, but that's all behind us as it has been acquired by ARRIS. Promising not only continued support for current Moxi customers but also plans to continue to develop and market the line of products, it appears the communications company sees this as a way to expand its own networking expertise. The cost to snap up Digeo's IP, 75 employees and other assets? A mere $20 million cash - we expect to find out more details via conference call tomorrow, any questions you want answered about the future of Moxi? Let us know in the comments, whether this means the UI will get a makeover is already on our list.

Ever read a headline and none of the brand names even ring a bell? Yeah.
I am currently a tester for the Digeo Moxi HD DVR and they are definitely continuing to support the device and they are still developing the UI because I received a new email today about about testing. So they are in no way stopping the development of the products. I personally love their products, so I'm glad they got everything figured out.
Go, go Diego.
Guys,
When a company that has had hundreds of millions sunk into it is sold for $20M it means someone bought the IP and could give a rats a** about anything they currently have. Yes they might have plans today to support whatever they have but those plans will be subject to change, very subject.
@Rob, agreed. $20M for a company like this is nothing. They've bought the IP, patents, and the employees. Over the next year or so they'll prune back the staff, people will get reassigned to other projects, and the existing Digeo product line will slowly fall by the wayside. Its over. Sure they're working on it right now. Just wait for the other shoe to fall.
I've only see the Moxi interface a few times and it looked interesting, at least compared to typical cable UIs. But when they didn't pan out as a DVR supplier to the cable cos, the whole retail as a last ditch strategy thing was highly unlikely to save them. I mean Tivo barely eeks out a profit now and again, and they're a freaking household name. Most of the DVRs in this country are RENTALS and people pay $5-$10 a month for them. Digeo never had a chance.
What happened to the conference call that was supposed to take place today?
