Microsoft kicks out $50 rebate for $299 Xbox 360 Elite

Didn't Microsoft's Xbox 360 Elite just drop to $299, like, three weeks ago? Yes, yes it did. Evidently that cut just wasn't deep enough for Microsoft (or else it had a change of heart following the release of Sony's $299 PS3 Slim), as the Redmond mega-corp has today lit up a new mail-in rebate program to bring the cost down to $249. Consoles purchased between today (sorry, Monday shoppers!) and October 5th are eligible, and it's anyone's guess as to what'll happen to the 360 lineup come October 6th. So, is Santa coming early for anyone this year, or what?

I picked one up today from Dell after discounts + rebate for $200 after taxes/shipping :) This seriously is a deal I couldn't let go.

Just ordered mine, Dell.com, their price is 270, plus a coupon it brings it down to 255 or something like that, add the tax total is back at 270 minus the Mail in rebate looking at 230 for an elite, not bad, plus i just checked the part number its the newer jasper motherboard, bad news is it wont ship till early october because its out of stock, but ive patiently waited all this time, whats a couple of weeks more. Reason i chose 360 vs PS3 was the netflix, hulu and media center compatibility and maybe a game or two, ohh and read up on the whole upconverting dvds to 720p or 1080p so i figured i really didnt need the bluray considering my tv is a Vizio 720p

My wife bought me an Elite yesterday for my Birthday. I told her to make sure it said 12.1A on the back, so I have a Jasper elite and I get $50 off. SWEET!

Yep, it's the equivalent of a manufacturer's rebate. The only catch is that you must purchase the white-box Elite (newest version).
