No, it's not 3.2 in quad core. Turbo mode is basically an efficiency feature. When only one processing core is being used it turns off the other cores and temporarily boosts the speed in the core you're using, giving you better real world performance and reducing power drain at the same time. When running in quad core mode these chips are 2.0Ghz.

Actually the 920 runs at 2.26Ghz on 3 or 4 cores. Still a far cry from 3.2, but a little better.
The neat thing I think, is that it runs at 3.06 on 2 cores.
Good, but does it suffer battery life? quad core use a lot of power in desktop. Also when we ever seen this in netbook?
When you see 32 cores in desktops and 16 cores in laptops. : )
In your dreams
I'm curious of performance benchmarks between these and the desktop chips, especially between that Sager/Clevo laptop with a desktop i7-920, difference in performance and battery life.
The Sager/Clevo comes with a Q9000 i believe- which the Core i7 820m will beat in most cases- BUT the battery power is somewhat limited unless you turn turbo boost off and slip into power saving mode. The fully charged battery can be eaten in 45 MINUTES! if used at 100% processing (like gaming or video encoding perhaps?. Now- the Core i7 920m- I think that comes with an "extreme" moniker like the Q9300 and will cost BIG$. I'm waiting for a mid level Sager or Asus gaming rig to come out- Core i7 820m with Nvidia 260m or 280(or better yet 300 series!!)

I doubt it. Apples been really pushing battery life with their macbook pros. An the core i7 is pretty much going to be a step backwards in that regards.

I doubt it- battery power with these little Core i7 quads will NOT be inn Mac's current line of computer selling. Although, you never know- Steve Jobs could turn things around with the proper marketing and sell you "The fastest battery draining mobile computer we've produced yet!" -cue applause;) Why WOULD Mac put this in a laptop? Not for gaming that's for damn sure- with the 9600M that they sell currently which is WAAAAY underpowered for the price- Maybe for video encoding?? Oh- BTW- I DO love my macbook pro which I am writing this post from- so don't automatically put me off as a Mac hater or Window's lover ( I'd actually rather be called a hater than a Windows lover)- I'm just telling it as it is.
Gaaah jesus I want to go to there. Slam them into everything, and let's see some competition within the next generation.

I move around the house just fine when downloading torrents on my desktop i7-920. I just walk away from the computer. GASP!! The thought of it!

The beginnings and ends of recessions can only be declared retro-actively, since financial numbers are only reported on a quarterly basis. So we may very well be out of the recession, but nobody can say for certain until the end of the quarter.
"mobile" i7...if mobile is defined as a computer which is by some stretch of the word portable and has a "battery", then yeah, the devices using this will be mobile.

Netbooks aren't designed to be processing workhorses anyway. they are meant to be very portable and a net browser.
I will wait for 32nm and 22nm and when they can do Turbo Mode on all the Cores, not shut down 3 Cores to boost one Core to 3.2Ghz, they turn my Quad Core mobile i7 into a Single 3.2ghz CPU

22nm in 2011 that tech should blow people socks of with new improvements and so power effcient they can finally Turbo Boosst all 4 or all 6 core from 1.9Ghz to 3.9Ghz and use less watts than 18TDP
I don't think you understand the point of "Turbo Mode". If you turn up the clock speed on all the cores, you're just overclocking it and increase the power drain as well as the heat output, both serious considerations on a laptop. Turbo mode is not overclocking, it's an efficiency measure. It turns off the other cores when they're not in use and overclocks a single core as fast as possible while still maintaining a similar power draw and heat output as it does when all 4 cores are running at stock speeds.
Its too bad that I don't think Intel will be releasing any other Quad core chips for laptops until Sandy Bridge (Late 2010 or early '11)!!
Since Arrandale (32nm shrink of nehalem mobile) will just be a dual core with a 45nm GPU in the package as well. This sucks. I want a quad core Nehalem @ 2.66GHZ! Not 2GHZ!
Apple typically does a november refresh on the laptops, will we see it then? I'd like a MacBook Pro with this chip in it and an external optical drive. pwease!!
Ehm, can't see how you missed this, but there are THREE chips - the 7200M (1.6GHz), 8200M (1.73GHz) and the 920XM. It quite clearly says so on your picture, as well as previously posted reviews of said chips ...
It's actually 720QM and 820QM, but you are correct they definitely list more than two chips.
i7 mac mini would be good.
