UMID M2 hands-on at IDF
UMID's got a couple prototype M2s lying around IDF, and while they don't seem like the most stable or production-ready things in the world -- one of them booted straight to an all-white screen, while another had its logo stuck on by a doting booth attendant -- it's clear that this revision of the M1 will correct a few glaring flaws. The major fix is that there's now a regular USB port on the side, instead of the M1's goofy dongle, but we're also glad to see a 3.5mm headphone jack and a (tiny) trackpad with two mouse buttons flanking the screen. Yeah, it's still a quirky little MID, but hey, maybe that does it for you. We're not here to judge what you do with the gallery below.

well its a big jump from the m1 thats for sure. still its a hard market to make a statement in. or it seems like that.
Too big for a phone, too small for a laptop.... Maybe I'm missing the point. Why are these things being made again?
You couldn't run Windows 7 on your phone, you couldn't stick a laptop in your pocket, unless it was a Vaio P of course.
But you could run Windows 7 on your pocket, and P on your laptop...
Go back and read the comments for the last dozen devices of this size so you won't have to ask the same stupid question for the next dozen.
Sounds like unzarjones found right where one of these things goes.....
I like it. As long as it costs under $300 I'd consider it.
hahahaha
Beautiful device but why is there an 'internet explorer logo'-key next to the windows key? That's just.. to much..
They should have put a pointing stick on there.
there is a mouse on the right side of the screen and mouse buttons on the left.
Beeeezel!
Any word on price?

Hello
I’ve had my Black UMID M1 for about 2 weeks now. And I am using it to write this reply. If I had listen to the negative things that people have said about this wonderful device I might have missed out on one of mankind’s greatest achievements. I have a large person computer budget, so I’ve suffered with other umpc looking for a machine that could do it all combined with the obvious platform of a clamshell. I own and retired, OQO model 1 and 2, all forms of palms, pocket pc, windows mobile and other so called UMPCs. This marvel is quick, quiet and cool. She fits in my pocket when ever I get interrupted and doesn’t complain when I awaken her to get back to work. I do not have to worry about a cracked or scratched screen. I now have the pleasure of running, 3DS MAX, AutoCAD, MS Office, Filmmaker Pro, Photoshop, Revit, Quicken, Encarta, VLC, and a host of other utils
Sure it could be better, however there is nothing better.
what typing speed can you get when using thumbs.
I will probably maybe get this because there doesnt seem to be a similar device on the market and also that they fixed the usb port and head phone jack , but the price has to be reasonable . im hearing $500 for the base model , which makes me think £500 for the base model , and when adding on the extras .......maybe i will have to skip. :(
HOW THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO TYPE ON THIS SHIT? WITH MY EYELASH? THESE KEYBOARDS ARE DESIGNED FOR DWARVES FROM LORD OF THE RINGS!
It seems that you are one of the ones that are probably going to struggle with it. It seems you need to master typing in the correct case, for starters.
Does this thing have a touchscreen like its brother? or does it rely on the mouse on the right of the screen? I suppose the point was because the touchscreen was awkward because a tap registers as i click. simply hovering over something with the cursor to get a tooltip was a nono on the m1.
i want to replace my sony 4.5" ux280p umpc with M2, but ONLY if M2 able to output to TV like my sony umpc. when you go travel or on hotel, it be nice to play movies on the big TV.
When will this come out already!? It's taking FOREVER it seems for the release in "q4 2009"
