iriver Story e-reader hits pre-order status in Korea, gets priced
We've been keeping our eyes peeled for any news of iriver's Story e-reader -- and it looks like it's on the verge of appearing in reality -- at least in Korea. The company is now taking pre-orders for the 6-inch, QWERTY keyboarded device, which runs 358,000 KRW ( around $290). The reader will come packaged with a 2GB SD card, the book-impersonating folding case we've spied it wearing in the past, and two free book downloads. While we've heard that the reader will eventually get global, we've still yet to heard pricing or release dates for the US of A. Until then, we'll just have to keep curled up on the sofa with our sad, dog-eared, public library copy of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

Why all this e-readers start poping up just after I got my Sony Reader Touch Edition...
Oscar Wao is such an excellent book.
I concur!
"US of A" FTW!
An ugly, small screened e-reader that doesn't even have wireless connection and priced pretty high? Are you kidding me? Keep it in Korea.
People complain about Iphone knockoffs... this thing looks like a kindle 2, color, style etc.
The more competition the better but I still hate to see us stripping features into separate devices. I don't want to carry around 23 devices for 23 different functions.
Wow...that thing really looks like a Kindle 2. Freaky...
I'm glad we're getting more e-reader competition, but I'm still more temped by the new $199 Sony Pocket Reader in Rose.
...It's small, cheap and pretty. :) [Insert joke here]
Now, cue all the guys who post bonehead comments like "It needs color" or "I need a backlit screen to watch videos".
Ah, what does a backlight have to do with watching videos? As opposed to you know, reading in the dark?
More likely the fan boy fell over from epileptic fits from all the flashing the e ink screen does when you turn the page. Looks great in pictures, just close your eyes when you want to flip the page, er, update the slow ass e ink....
