Video: Sony Ericsson Satio unboxed, demonstrated with the utmost care
October 7th is like, what, just under a fortnight away? But we know good and well that's not making it any easier to wait for Sony Ericsson's 12.1 megapixel Satio to launch across the pond. If you're eager to live vicariously through a well-connected individual over on YouTube, you can hop on past the break right now to see the phone unboxed (in all three colors, no less) and detailed to a level that only a true SE fanboy could treasure. And that includes you, over there in the closet...

I really want this!
Sony really can make some great hardware, take the xperia line for example, but for crying out loud, make your products accessible. The price tag on these devices is almost like a big FU to the common folk. I got enough bills as is, I dont need to take out another mortgage for a phone
i agree, SE is overpricing. But its market has always been business people more than the common folk.
One more thing SE should change, announcement and release date should be very much closer. Not announced at the beginning of the year and released at the end. That sucks. Anticipation is good, but patience is a virtue few modern men/women have.
sweet looking device....12MP....mmm very tempting for a photographers (like me)....but S60....no thanx, I think I'll pass...
I'd rather wait for Rachael :)
Well, i will go up ahead since Leo is just around the corner :)
or LEO... :)
I like this phone, but I think I'll wait for the Rachael too!
This was a reply to vathsav.remella...
THE RACHAEL with the huge knockers from NINJA GAIDEN right RIGHT???
I'm impressed with the UI.
Compared to Android, iPhone, Palm Pre? Have you been living under a stone or something?
SE is falling down the exact same hole that Ericsson did: Building impressive hardware with actual usability as an afterthought. I've owned several of their phones and they've all made me want to puke.
Rhymes with patio or fellacio? Vote here!
12mp is stupid...
You could get much better quality from a 7 megapixel sensor of the same size....
Maybe not for daylight, but as soon as you come indoors, a 12 megapixel that size is going to struggle...
who's gonna use this inside anyways of course they gonna go outside and to the mall and start shooting girls going up the escator.
I would say it depends on the individual. As a photographer this might be very useful some times...yesterday evening the sunset was beautiful (Tempe, AZ).....I dint have my beasty 5D Mark 2 with me (i cannot carry it to my classes everyday)....I really missed a good picture because of the crappy camera on my iPhone 3g.....in such situations its very useful...
True, but the price premium you pay for that camera is ridiculous. It might even make more sense to buy a cheaper phone, and just carry a very compact, cheap point-and-shoot
I kinda agree with you...unless it is subsidized....its out of my league..
It has a Xenon flash. It'll take great photos indoors.
That box looks exactly like a Zune box. Except for the fact that it opens sideways.
Hmmmm... Well my comment looks like a comment except that it has my words in it. Seriously, there aren't many ways you design a box. I personally just toss the box aside once a get something new.
satiety. mmmmm.
except s60....everything is beautiful about this phone!!
That guy went from a being a nihilist in The Big Lebowski to unboxing mobile phones. Makes me wonder if he really cares.

The Satio would be priced on par with all the other high-end sets in the market. I won't be surprised if its cheaper than the weaker spec-ed N97, in fact.
god yeah, if I'm going to spend a bazillion pounds on a new phone, it certainly won't be this one
Sony does have some great hardware, too bad their marketing department sucks. and their cameras on their phones are exceptional i have yet to see something on a phone that can compare to the sony phone cameras
It looks smooth and fast, i like.
great idea, great mobile!!
too bad aboot the fast port and no 3.5mm :( those reasons are unfortunately enough for me to wait SE.
i think its really really really dumb...not having a 3.5mm jack! (unless they give that little remote with 3.5mm jack)
The video is shot by me, running the official Satio Launch Blog over at http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/satio. You'll find more tutorials, sample pics and other info about the Satio.
Just hope its better quality than the c905, my sister has one and the speaker has given up the ghost and the keypad isn't working. Luckily it's still under the 12 month warranty, but I know of 4 people locally that have had the same problem and O2 have said Sony aren't supplying the model anymore.
So the purple box has black one and green box has silver? kinda wierd but ok :)
