Video: Windows 7 launch party parody is bleeping genius
So by now you all know about Microsoft's painful, cringe-inducing Windows 7 party idea, and the accompanying goodie packs. What you might not have known is that Redmond also put together a 'Hosting Your Party' instructional video that blends all the worst parts of infomercials and cooking programs into one giant melange of awkward acting. Well, Cabel Sasser -- founder of Mac software maker Panic Inc -- has remixed said video, and the result is nothing short of a triumph. Journey past the break to see what we mean.

Bring a chicken.
god, the shaky camera is worse than cloverfield
Best remix yet. Panic Inc has nothing on this.

cloverfield was awesome, you ARE wack
I had to stop watching this at work because I was laughing too hard.
Yeah i just caught it on youtube, too funny! - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PfoBwF8Bus
Unbelievable. I guess it speaks volumes about the intellect of a typical windows user. The marketing person responsible for this should be shot.
I wouldn't say it speaks anything about typical Windows users, I would say it speaks volumes on how Microsoft envisions their users though.
Well, I don't know about Microsoft, but personally I always like to have only 1 black person and 1 elderly white woman at every one of my parties.
It really keeps the party alive.
@FrsotBlade.
I guess the party isn't hosted by Microsoft Poland...
@FrsotBlade.
Well definitely a black guy. Somebody has to eat all the food and agree with everyone else, right?
Otherwise, they'd leave the asian guy in.
At least MS can come up with somebody other than Justin Long to represent their customers.
Justin Long doesn't represent Apple customers, he represents the Mac computer. Apple and Microsoft use the phrase "I'm a PC" in different ways.
It's like an unfunny version of "This Week in Unnecessary Censorship" from Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Jimmy Kimmel is much better. With his edits, you don't even have to think about what words are supposed to be behind the beeps... it flows intuatively. With this horrible knock-off, you have to really try hard to find words that would sound like they are actually part of that conversation.
This was really bad.
I have only seen Windows 7 being benchmarked as being faster than Vista, but slower than XP. Get your facts straight douche!
Let's see, make fun of Microsoft by making a video that's just as bad?
ORLY?
I guess no matter how bad the video is, if it makes fun of microsoft, apple fankids will love it.
I agree, I snickered maybe once. Otherwise I'm not sure why this is being heralded as triumphant. It's not that I don't like the dirtiness, it's that this is just not funny
Lame
This and the Josh Long commercials illustrate why Mac people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera.
"This and the Josh Long commercials illustrate why Mac people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera."
Not really sure what you mean by that.
A) I think you mean Justin Long
B) This wasn't shot by the remixer. It was remixed. Meaning he used existing footage from the Microsoft commercial.
C) Weird. Lots of filmmakers use Final Cut (a program for mac) to edit their films. Lots of writers use Final Draft, screenwriting software for the mac. Some of these people even end up behind a camera to make movies that gross millions of dollars!
I do agree that the remix is pretty horrible, as is the commercial. Almost all of the marketing material coming out of Redmond lately is pretty horrible though. But I think that's the point: get people talking about how horrible it is and keep people talking about Windows. Not sure how effective it will be, I guess time will tell.
Anyway, can we please stop making broad characterizations about a group of people based on things as silly as what operating system they use? Because really, this is what you sound like, just a little sillier:
"This ... illustrates why black people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera."
"This ... illustrates why gay people shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera."
"This ... illustrates why women shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera."
Yea, definitely don't give gay people cameras! Bad idea...
Wait, you're trying to say that Jimmy Kimmel is funny?
^ Wait, I got my Jimmys mixed up (too much coffee >_
But you're not invited if you're a business user. Because surveys show most businesses
plan to stick with XP.
Yeah i must say i have to agree, Windows7 is pretty average, might as well stick with XP its not even that different, just runs slower IMO
Well it didn't take long for obvious troll to appear.
XP Pro is better than Vista Pro without doubt!
"Well it didn't take long for obvious troll to appear."
Looks it took even less to the obvious fanboi to respond.

You a moron. They've benchmarked it. W7 runs better then XP, more intuitive and stable. Sidenote you're a moron.
@giuliop
"Looks it took even less to the obvious fanboi to respond."
Now how would it be "even less", when fanboi responded after the troll? Hmm...? Think about that for a minute or a few hours in your case. Oh and learn your grammar!
@giuliop
Ok then, show me the market research that indicates most businesses will not migrate to W7 over the next 3 to 4 years then.
"Ok then, show me the market research that indicates most businesses will not migrate to W7 over the next 3 to 4 years then."
Of course they will, this is common sense - they have no choice but to move to the next OS. Think about it, XP is almost a decade old! The fact that they didn't do this with Vista just shows what a dismal OS Vista was. Where I work they didn't move everyone over to XP until about 2003. With Vista, the IT department said they would "never" upgrade to Vista. But eventually they will have to upgrade, even if it is just because that is what the PCs (which are replaced every three years) ship with.
So yes, it is common sense that they will move away from XP to Win7. Or 8. Or Win95+15 Or Panoramic Euphoria, or whatever naming scheme they go with for the next OS revision.
Or, to use the condensed version, I'm right and obvious troll is indeed obvious.
you are aware that you yourself are also a troll of sorts, right? A smug self righteous troll, but a troll none the less.
Yup, I'm a smug git.
I knew we had something in common.
We are planning on deploying it next spring and most of my friends who are in IT, their companies have either already done it (just one) or are planning to do it before the end of 2010. A lot of us have skipped Vista, but not all, but we are all looking forward to Windows 7.
I nerded out with our Microsoft rep recently about Windows 7 and saying how I am excited for it, which she said they have been getting a lot of people saying that.
I won't say it is perfect and I am a big linux fan, but 7 is a major step in the right direction.
Do YOU want to be the admin responsible for upgrading an entire network of XP computers to Windows 7? Say for a company like... Lockheed Martin? Windows 7 may perform better than XP, but XP had been around a lot longer, will have fewer security vulnerabilities that a new OS is bound to have, and has drivers for any custom hardware they could be using, which I bet they are. Even WITH remote installations and automation, I would never want to be the one to do that in such a large company.
Personally speaking, my company (US-based corporation that delivers a lot of packages) skipped Vista but they are planning to deploy Windows 7 early next year. And thank goodness for that - we'll finally see the back of the horror that is Windows XP. I know Vista has a bad reputation but I'd rather use that than XP simply for being a modern OS.
As opposed you you, my dear Skeezle. You are completely impartial and NEVER attempt to pick a fight with anybody (who doesn't like Apple)
Oh look, another one!
Stick with XP? No thanks. Our SolidWorks, HFSS, and Flowtherm boxes all run Vista Ultimate x64. The only problems we have with these machines is sometimes Office products will hang and/or crash. Strange how Office is the only thing we've really had troubles with (stranger still that it's a Microsoft born and bred suite...), but the "rest of the world" treats Vista as a pariah. We've also tested Windows 7 on a five year old Dell Latitude X1. It "feels" quicker with 7 than it did with XP. Performance isn't really improved much, unless you consider no crashes since the beta launched a performance increase.
You're right though, most business will wait until at least the first service pack to come out before migrating to a new OS; at least the ones that know what they're doing.
Ethos - Just out of interest, how do you benchmark intuitiveness?
Who was operating that camera? Trying to make me feel seasick?
... content also making me sick 3 minutes in...
notice how the black man only gets like one line.. They can edit him out easily.
