Video: Windows 7 launch party parody is bleeping genius
So by now you all know about Microsoft's painful, cringe-inducing Windows 7 party idea, and the accompanying goodie packs. What you might not have known is that Redmond also put together a 'Hosting Your Party' instructional video that blends all the worst parts of infomercials and cooking programs into one giant melange of awkward acting. Well, Cabel Sasser -- founder of Mac software maker Panic Inc -- has remixed said video, and the result is nothing short of a triumph. Journey past the break to see what we mean.

or they can just superimpose a white guy over his head.
Nah, that's crazy. Who would do that?
Definitely not Microsoft...

I wouldn't mind having the milf at my party! She'd definitely provide some entertainment value ;)
I love how the white guy symbolically jokes that he can't believe Microsoft would let the black man get involved..
god that's funny
That's what I'm thinking too. Total rip off of Jimmy Kimmel.
I guess this guy Cabel Sasser can't come up with anything original.
someone already said that
After the white guy says "I did three.", it sounds like the black guy says "Pfffft, well excuse me, sexy mouth".
+1 for tea on my shiny new monitor.
It does sound like that, but I think he said "check him out".
Most boring party ... EVER ......
What are you talking about!? They have cashews!
Oh sorry, missed the cashews
Windows 7 Party Tip: Don't throw your party on a boat
So that's what a Gates party is like.
Are micro$oft seriously suggesting people have a windows 7 party. WTF!
Who ever is doing their marketing and advertising now should be shot. It all consistently misses the mark.
The beeping version is just not funny.
Read the article dumb-ass.
Ef Ewe. I'm throwing a Windows 7 Party. You get a free copy of Windows 7 and some goodies to give out at the party. Totally worth it. Not my fault your computer is your only friend.
Dude I signed up. I missed the mark because I was at work when the email came out so I didn't in quick enough.
Whats not to like. Free copy of Windows7 and free peripherals and such plus its a easy and it would just you and you friends hanging out? I don't see the issue.
This is another great example how crappy microsoft-ads really are. I'd like to see someone make a version with BSOD.
"I started planning my party and the com crashed. It took 15min to reboot and my mouse didn't work. I rebooted again and when starting to use my mouse the infamous Blue Screen came. Pressing crtl+alt+del crashed the blue screen. Man, my party was a blast!"
Malwaren - Just looked at your posts. Clearly a well informed intelligent person... oh hold on you think pixels are round.
Ethos - Fair enough - didn't know anything about the freebies - not mentioned in the article.
The point is if you have to have a party to explain how to use an operating system it's a rubbish operating system. No I am not an Apple fan - I use OSX and windoze - and they are both great in some ways and rubbish in many.
Yes the original video is lame. How to have a party for F@!Ks sake.... but the the bleeping version is not original or funny. It's internet crappola and does not belong on this site.
Regarding microsoft advertising and marketing, I refer you to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oGFogwcx-E - nuff said
WTF! This is american sarcasm right?
You're thinking of irony, which goes to prove that American's don't understand it.
Oh, it's supposed to be funny?
Yea...we really need a party for windows 7 because the hell with windows vista is coming to an end... But then, I hope windows 8 gets rid of that registry...
What's so bad is that some programs access the same registry value 20 times a sec continuously for no reason at all, values that will not change, if you are a project manager you should track such coders down and fire them and call anybody that ever employs them.
I like Windows 7 and would do this to get the Ultimate but dear god both of these videos suck. Why don't they get the guys that did the latest PS3 commercials.
You would have needed to sign up like a month ago. Registrations are closed.
My eyes are bleeding.
yeah, do not host a party like that unless you are a card carrying senior or still in elementary and the other thing is NOONE IS TOUCHING MY PC!
but yeah, i'm not participating anyways, it seems like a farce.
But honestly, the first video was bad, the remix wasnt much better
While MS denied my party ... :(
Like WTF!
A party for morons.
Wow, that is bleak.
The original was FAIL. The remix is even more FAIL. I'm expecting really good things out of Win7 ... but this whole "party" concept seems like a bad idea the boss dreamed up and everybody is afraid to tell him it sucks.
Haha I know I saw this earlier and I'm still laughing about it, Everything about it is so bad. Where is this website where I can read party ideas? I'm sure they are pretty funny as well.
Am I the only one who finds this patently un-funny? I mean, I keep expecting the funny, but it just isn't happening. In fact, it seems like most PC commercial parodies and edits are just completely awful. Shame on people who think this is funny. You're the kind of people who give Dane Cook money.
Agree with the un-funniness. If you want to see how to do a remix, please see "Slap Chop Remix."
Ugh. Are you referring to the dubbed Slap Chop and other ad videos? Personally I find those so lame.
The humor in this parody video simply lies in the first sound of the word that is bleeped, along with the dialog that follows.
Here's an example:
Grandma @ :51 seconds: "...but you may want to **** *** them, but you have to make sure to have the right devices on hand"
You see, here, though the words are "bleeped", it appears as though she is saying "jack off them", therefore humorously making it seem as though she is speaking naughty and inappropriate words, but in actuality, she is not.
In conclusion, one needs to have an imagination, or what some would call a "sick mind".
microsoft has tommy wiseau on the payroll.
I dunno why the guy who remixed this used the "bleeps" that he did. They're not the standard ones that they use in television and their ear-piercingly loud and obnoxious. Bleeping out words to imply sexual/dirty stuff hasn't really been that funny since Jimmy Kimmel kinda overdid it.
Well, that's good news for those of us that don't watch Jimmy Kimmel. It stayed funny.
Dane Cook is even funnier than this. To like this you'd have to be either
A. a PC Hater
B. Apple fanboy
C. Both
And to the guy jawing on about the BSOD, get a clue. Even XP wasn't that bad. Windows hasn't had a problem with BSOD since Millenium. I've been using Vista at work for over 2 years and other than it being slow and a memory hog it's worked fine. Been using Win7 at home now for 6 months and not one BSOD and it's smooth as silk.
And before the Apple butt monkey's come out in droves. Apple's are sweet machines with a nice OS, not as secure as the commercials would like you to think, but sweet none the less. I'd seriously be interested in buying one if it weren't for the price.
Is this the same nose-picking Puck from MTV's 'The Real World?' wow! Thought you would have OD'd by now.
anyway-
I installed an RC version of Win7 several months ago, it would boot up with the nifty little Windows logo animation screen, then go directly to a blue screen. Got it on video. Didn't get to actually use the OS until I installed it using VMWare Fusion.
BSOD is not a thing of the past.
Nonsense! Windows Vista and 7 effectively hide BSODs by rebooting immediately on a system crash. You need to change a setting before you will ever see a BSOD. Go to "Advanced System Settings->Startup and Recovery" and disable the "Automatically Restart" item. Then you'll see a BSOD (when your system crashes)...
You guys realize that Cabel isn't a comedian or anything right? He's a goddamned software developer, not to mention a really nice and extremely modest guy. He posted this video on twitter for his friends to see. It was pretty funny, and if the joke was ruined for you by Jimmy Kimmel, your sense of humor was fucked from jump street.
Well as someone who got chosen to host a party, and an avid Win7 fan, I have to say that I love Win7. I use the RTM on my Netbook and it is faster and cleaner than both Vista and XP. I suggest actually using the OS before putting it down. It is everything Vista should have been. As far as the party goes, I did it to get free stuff. Plain and simple.I will set the laptop up, invite a few IT friends over and have a nice evening. It's a win/win for me.
Oh gee, wow this really looks kinda neat, dontcha think? I mean it looks like a whole buncha neat fun that is just too fun!
