HTC HD2 inches closer to reality, hitting Europe in October for around 600 Euro?
We already heard about a potential October 12 launch for the HTC HD2 (Leo) on O2 in the UK, and now we're hearing October for the Netherlands as well -- with a 550 to 600 Euro price range. Of note, the tipster who dropped this knowledge on pocketnow.com also says that Pocket IE on the phone won't have multitouch gesture support, despite the capacitive screen's support for multi-finger input -- though with Microsoft's own Zune HD sporting a multitouch version of Pocket IE, we have to believe it's in the works. Just like everything good and decent planned for Windows Mobile.

Hey HTC start bringing your phones to America first or we'll let China invade.
Yeah seriously guys. We're serious this time. Seriously.
At that price, Europe can have it first. I'll gladly wait a few months to save a few hundie....
Amen.
This is THE best phone on the planet and they are keeping it limited to one hemisphere.
I, and several other people I know, would gladly line up to buy this thing, but they are limiting themselves by not porting it over here.
500-600 euros is a lot of fricken money!
what is that in US dollars?
Nevermind.... OUCH!!!
Indeed it is...
Yeah, but not in sweden because it will cost me perhaps about $75 per month (24month contract) and i will get to use it all for texts, calls and data traffic, thats living in sweden...
Bear in mind, that's the pre-subsidy, SIM-free price. That puts it only €100 over the N900 and on a parity with the smallest version of the iPhone 3GS. So I'm expecting it to be priced about the same as the iPhone, Pre, etc. etc. on contract.
This is epic.
Wow.....Are you back with a changed middle name???? We all missed you here.
It better be hitting my ball sack like a pocket ninja State-side come November.
The Read link doesn't work
"everything good and decent" doesn't hyperlink either
600 Euros...Ouch
Perfect cellphone: Take the Zune HD with the Leo's giant screen. I don't want a tiny little 3.x screen, I want something substantial. My pockets can handle it, in the monetary and girth senses.
Yeah I too hope this phone makes it to US and works with ATT 3G network
The device looks really promising, I love the thin bezel around the screen but no multi touch(pinch zoom) in IE sucks a lot! I hope they implement it.
Also how is it's camera? have the samples been posted anywhere?
I could actually care less about multi-touch in PIE, I would be much happier with tabbed browsing (unless I missed something, I have not seen that in PIE which makes me use Opera)
Doesn't HTC usually ship their phones with Opera anyway?
@Hardtimesguy
The new beta is free man.Just download it onto any phone.
That will be the unlocked price, which is similar to the Touch HD 1. I got my Touch HD "free" with a £35 pm 18 month contract, so I imagine this will be similar if you don't mind a bit of bargaining.
thats an understatement... so that would probably be like $500-$600 with a 2yr contract....
I dont know what u complain about, I paid for my Touch HD 600 Euro last November!
If this turns out to be the right price tag it will cost as much as the predecessor costs, but u will get a better device this time ...
Sure 600 Euro are really much money, but this isnt the first smartphone that costs 600 Euro...
I would take it for less money, but thats the price, we will see if its worth the money!
Hope so ! :)
You lucky americans...iPhone 3GS 32GB sells for $800 in India under some lame ass contract......And obviously,it has been an utter disaster here......
It's a shame that the "tipster" from Pocketnow is taking credit for something that wasn't his, as those were posted by someone at the forums of the Dutch gadget newssite Tweakers.Net, oh, and the folks at Ai.Rs (The ones that posted the 10 minute hands-on a while back) said that IE mobile DOES support pinch zooming, only fairly bad (With steps and lots of lag), Opera did not support it for now.
Yeah here's the original source:

Sort ya read link out will ya.
Jeez ...do I have to do everything manually round here!!
If there is any one who currently have the first Tocuh HD and is thinking of upgrading to the HD2, let me know, I am in the market for one and the original Touch HD would do be fine, as long as it works with AT&T (850MHz & 1900MHz)
I would love to get .the HD2, but 600€ is simply too much.
The original Touch HD was never released with US 3G bands (850/1900).
I really want to get the HTC HD 2 so i tried looking it up, but all i got was the first HD. Is there any difference?
http://www.tvlesson.com/video/39391_htc-hd-review-and-unboxing.html
Yeah, they basically have nothing in common.
not to mention it wont have U.S. 3g if you import it? kind of like what happened to the htc hd
The Austrialian Telstra version of the Touch HD (8285) works perfectly with the ATT 3G network. I ve had mine for months now. I live in California, and purchased my Touch HD on e-Bay Austrailia. I suspect that when the Touch HD2 becomes available, Telstra will also get it, and we shuold be able to purchase an unlocked version of it, just like I did with the Touch HD. Best phone ever..until the Touch HD2.
Need this in the US on CDMA with Sprint. This would be my perfect SERO phone. :)
Like yesterday - I'm putting off buying the TP2...
it would be mine too, but only if I get the assurance that will be able to install windows 7 on it. those hardware requirements can't be higher than this
@szfs
Lol....If this runs windows 7, this is the absolute iPhone/any phone killer :D.......And on a more serious note, yes this meets the chassis requirements of Windows mobile 7 so you will be upgrade to it later. This ships with winmo 6.5 which aint that bad now.
You said it.
The TP2 is not much of an upgrade for those of us with TP1's on 6.5 ROM's.
This however, this is a HUGE upgrade in every way, save for a keyboard. But at 4.3", it's large enough to negate the need for a physical keyboard, even if we have to compromise our typing speeds a little.
Huhh!! Thats is always a drawback with the price, sell it @ 300 euro and it will sell like a hot cacke, bring it on !! but 600 well i would step back @ this time in the economy.
HTC should remember who they are taking on in the game, appriciate the multi touch but is it worth @ 600 euro probally not.
you forget that euros to usd, when it comes to phones at least, is usually a one to one conversion. so 5-6 hundred usd is probably more reasonable
What the hell are you talking about. Why would you expect to get a ~$300 ish discount just for living in the US..
Do you mean after a carrier gives you a subsidy it'll be ~$300 cheaper than the unlocked version?
no i mean, for some reason, when phones release over here, they tend to be priced the same off contract in dollars as in euros. so a phone that costs 400 euros somehow manages to cost 400 dollars over here
So of the overseas telcos that are getting this phone, do any of them use any 3G frequencies used by any US carriers?
You down with HTC?
yeah you know me
official upgrade to winmo 7 pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase !!!!!!! (not hopeful though)
I beat you to that ah sidi Mohsen ;)
Oh come on, it's 2009. These things aren't that expensive to make anymore.
This whole phone probably costs HTC around 300-350 dollars to make :-?
It will probably start at $200 with a 2yr contract. An iPhone costs $800 without contract in many parts of the world so im expecting the same price point as the iPhone 3GS.
I think its finally time dump my lame iPhone 2G.Its getting slower by the day like a windows computer.
Just to put things in perspective, an unlocked iPhone costs about 700 euros here in the Netherlands (You can easily get it free on contract though).
Any idea whats the graphics chip of this phone. Is it that PowerVR MBX as on the iPhone or something better.I was hoping for tegra but thats not possible now....Imagine Tegra with a Snapdragon and 1GB Ram.Thats my dream phone :D
thats too much for a phone... and $75 for service? and people wonder how the economy crash with decision making like that...
Please come to the US, please come to the US, please come to the US...
