Oh boy, we're getting close, eh? The
October 22nd retail launch of Windows 7 is just around the corner. But if that's too late then you can get a new system nine days early through smaller custom PC makers. Apparently, Microsoft has given the green light for smaller system builders to begin selling their Windows 7 PCs just as soon as they get their product keys. That magic is set to begin as early as October 13th. A loophole that little Puget Systems in Washington state is more than happy to flaunt on its website (pictured above). So why not take a trip down to the strip mall and spread the wealth around the local community -- you might be rewarded with a custom-built Win7 PC to go with that new Indian Summer scrapbook kit and yarn sampler. Imagine the bragging you could do at
all those parties.
[Thanks, Sammy]
The American date system always gets me. From the picture, I thought Windows 7 would ship in Smarch...Stupid Smarch.
I don't know if it was your intended goal, but you have confused me.
Smarch, 13th month of the year.

USA! USA!
I say it's September 25th more than I say it's the 25th of September, so we write it that way -- the slashes are just used because chicks love slashes.
"This award means you think I am the best actor slash model, and not the other way around." -Fabio
No, it ships in Soctober...Intelligent Soctober.
If you want Windows 7 that bad, you would just sign up for a Technet account. We have had the RTM for over a month now.
Or just run it even if you don't have a product key, you have 120 days after all.
or obtain the arrg version.
Or, just run the RC for about another year before it starts turning off...
Or download it from MSDNAA a month ago for free, like me.
October 22nd? Hah! At the university book store I am employed at we started selling Windows 7 yesterday to students. 32 and 64 bit Ultimate editions, $6.95 each.
Uhh sure you did...
And I'm the Queen of England too!
Anyways I'll be getting my Windows 7 Ultimate thru ExpertZone from MS pretty soon. Cannot wait.
Hmm. What's that SNL song??? Oh yeah. I just jizzed in my pants. God damn colleges and me not being in one.
It's called a Student Agreement... NOT the same as consumer box copy....
Good for you. I got a copy of Win7 Pro RTM for free because I'm a Computer Science student.
My MSDNAA account has had Windows 7 RTM 32bit/64bit since like August 18th...so it's entirely possible other distributors representing a group of people to distribute this early. Benefit is to M$, helps create a 'buzz' around the best thing Microsoft has done since WinXP.
yeah seeing this news is weird considering i've been using Win7 since august thanks go MSDN
My university is selling it to students already as well: http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=70240 I haven't bothered to pick up a copy yet though.
pfft... 23'rd... 13th..
im getting mine on the 10th... (thank you windows 7 launch party :P)...
I read the headline as "Windows Vista ships years late".
Its ok, reading is hard for some people...
Hehe, I'm already running Windows 7 Pro, thanks MSDNAA!
me too! but I was kind a surprised to find it there available for us students, while the regular bully has to wait for it until some day in october..
My Nephew in India - Undergrad got Laptop with Pre-installed Windows 7.
That too last month.
I love living 2 minutes from Redmond.
After making the terrible mistake of "upgrading" (ha) to Vista on launch day, I've definitely learnt my lesson. Will wait til next summer/fall when they have many kinks worked out. Bitten once, MS' fault. Bitten twice, my fault.
Plus, I've developed a certain attachment to my ever-spinning "not responding" blue circle and VUWSOD (Vista Ultimate White Screen of Death).
preordered windows 7 back in july for $50 from best buy so ill have it sometime at the end of october

I work in tech support for an ISP, and we already have customers who have purchased new computers, pre loaded with Windows 7.
Do they actually have windows 7, or do they just think they have windows 7?
The problem with doing tech support at an ISP is you talk to a bunch of people who think they have something because they saw it mentioned on the internet or the news or heard if from a friend...but have no clue what they actually have on their computer.
No, they are actually using Windows 7, because of the changes in the Network and Sharing Center, which is where we end up most of the time.
FUCK YEAH I'm having a Windows 7 party tomorrow with coke, booze, hookers and Ballmer as stripogram fer the ladeez
BOGRASH....Can I come??? Just txt me wit the 411 bra. Holla
But seriously....am I the ONLY one with a "preactivated" copy of Win 7 thats been running flawlessly for the last 2 months?
