Lenovo Ion-powered IdeaCenter Q110 nettop on sale now
The slow wave of NVIDIA Ion-based machines continues to wash in -- as expected, the Lenovo Q110 nettop is now on sale. We'd actually wait another couple weeks to score this rig with Windows 7 preloaded, but if you're into Vista you can grab it right now for $399 with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB drive and take a free upgrade disc when it's available. Anyone gonna throw down?

i want an ion-based netbook with 12" screen hope coming soon
HP Mini 311. Available right now.
12 != netbook
I just ordered a Mini 311 yesterday! I said I was in the Parent Teacher of a local school to get a 6% discount. I got full options except 2 batteries(who needs 2?) and normal wireless G card, I mean G works good now, even for FIOS so I think it should be sufficient. It rocks!
I'd surely like to throw it down and dance on the pieces. It'll be nice when they stop building these under-powered toy computers.
I want a 8.9" or 10.1" one that's ION-powered. As small and light as possible too.
I love that white color with chrome base but what the hell artwork is screened on the side?
Not for me at $399. No way. $299 maybe.
You are right about the price being too high, but I think even $299 is too much. There's not a whole lot of hardware here, it should be $199.
But the ps3 won't play my damn .avi files!
I bought a $300 Dell with a Celeron 450 for my parents. If it's not in an netbook, it's pointless to use it.
@lawyer bird
ps3 can play .avi's
Availability:
Ships in more than 4 weeks**
Uh, ouch.
Those things should have at the very least DVD, better yet BluRay drives - and less ghastly designs. Then they'd make nice HTPCs...
Come back when it's got HDMI, DisplayPort or at the very least DVI video output. KTHXBAI
Agreed. D-Sub is lame.
The $399 and $499 models have HDMI. $299 only has VGA.
Nothing new should have VGA DSUB connectors anymore. Just sad they could not put at the minimum DVI port
Matt, there's no reason why anyone should have to pay an extra $100 to get an HDMI port.
Does it really matter ? My HDTV gives a better picture over D-SUB and many people will be buying this to connect to a monitor, HDMI is a little useless then since it will only output 480/720/1080.
Major4Play, if a computer is using a HDMI port then it will behave in the same manner as a DVI port.
Not with my TV and last two computers Ned, maybe a VGA+DVI would be good for the option but just an HDMI wouldn't suit everyones equipment, for instance how would someone output to a VGA monitor from an HDMI port ?
Ned Scott, I've had a lot of problems with HDMI-DVI adapters. Usually the computer fails to recognize the display or vice-versa. I know it should work fine, but in practice it often doesn't.
Why do these nettops tend to have vga instead of DVI? Seems backwards.
This is a great PC for hulu and stuff like that..............the q110 ($399) has hdmi
It would be true if they are using Silverlight instead of dodgy Adobe flash.
What sites use Silverlight, though?
microsoft.com/silverlight
Kesherz
Netflix Streaming Online uses Silverlight.
Silverlight is lamesauce. Flash player is getting better, at least everyone has it.
Big diff...the Q110 has HDMI but the Q100 has just VGA. The Q700 adds a writable DVD drive and Core2 duo. Nice form factor on that Q700 for a HTPC.
I'm not interested in a "nettop" but I will say that this thing is actually quite attractive. Well done the Chinese.
It's interesting. Too bad it's made by Lenovo.
what's wrong with lenovo? would you rather have dell ?
'Too Bad it's Made by Lenovo'
Uh, Why? They consistently score at high end of quality.
WTF? I own 2 Lenovos, their build quality is top notch, way better than Dell and HP.
My comment appears to have not been posted. Forgive me if this is a double post.
I've purchased several hundred, if not thousands, of PCs. I used to swear by IBM, until they started getting built by Lenovo. The failure rate went down the toilet. I switched to HP and have tremendous luck with HP today. Old hard drives die, but that's about it. With Lenovo built equipment, it's frequently a mainboard issue.
I think Dell gets a bad rap from a hardware standpoint. Their business class PC's are pretty good. My only problem with them is they will change the hardware (video, audio, etc) within the same model. It makes driver management a pain in rear. HP has a better handle on TCO.
Why can't these things just come with either a 500gb or 1tb seriously!
Because 3.5 drives would end up making this thing heavier than a house
That isn't a huge weight difference between 2.5 and 3.5" HDDs and 3.5 usually run at 7200rpm instead of cheap 2.5 which run at 4200rpm.
If you want it light and portable wouldn't you buy a netbook instead of a nettop ?
Overpriced (without the corporate discount), under-powered -- perfect for drones working in cubes. Regular people can spend a few bucks more and get something useful.
Why would I want to see that? Sadistic fool. Go make your money from pimping slave-women or selling guns to Congo or something.
I´ve got same thing, but it´s not lenovo... it´s "Prestigio ION PC", (made by pegatron) with HDMI for 230€ :) here: http://www.alza.sk/prestigio-ion-pc-v2-250gb-bez-os-cerny-d137607.htm
Why does it look like a 5-year old drew a crappy 2D car and a T-shirt and a cup of coffee on the side? Who the hell wants that? It must be hip and trendy, it has cool drawings on the side! ftl
Bad design on the port layout. The VGA connector is the only one that will be in use all the time and it should be on the bottom so it's not in the way when you're trying to connect USB devices.
I read that the gpu on Ion 2 has twice as much shaders compared to Ion 1. Do you guys have an estimate as to how much of a performance gain that would be? And what mobile gpu will Ion 2 be comparable to in terms of performance?
quad core atom would be nice.
Again, where is the IR port?? That design is gonna look real nice with usb IR dongle you have attach to it...
Umm, how about an ASRock 330 for less money and get a dual core ATOM? This thing with a single core, ION or not, is too much money. The ASRock isn't quite as pretty but it works WELL and has HDMI onboard - it can be gotten with a BD drive too. Runs Liniux well and is serving me as an XBMC box on Ubuntu right now.
only problem bd version no where to be found. newegg just recently start selling the white version.
