Lenovo Ion-powered IdeaCenter Q110 nettop on sale now
The slow wave of NVIDIA Ion-based machines continues to wash in -- as expected, the Lenovo Q110 nettop is now on sale. We'd actually wait another couple weeks to score this rig with Windows 7 preloaded, but if you're into Vista you can grab it right now for $399 with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB drive and take a free upgrade disc when it's available. Anyone gonna throw down?

Why the emphasis on NewEgg? Given the chance they will jack the price to the Moon - the Intel I7 and Intel SSD are just two very good examples. Microcenter sells the I7 cheaper by far and I got the G2 SSD for $70 less elsewhere too. When I bought my ASrock they were $50 too high so I used Google to find another vendor. Shop around and check the BBB ratings before buying.
As for the BD - I didn't buy it and I don't want it. I rip my media to a NAS and play it back using XBMC on the ION with Linux as the OS. Video and audio both go over the HDMI. It looks great and I can play back anything without leaving the couch. On BD movies I only rip the movie itself and lose the menus\extras but I'm okay with that. I transcode it all to H.264 and compress it down by a few gigs too. Plays perfectly with just a little computing time spent doing it. Regular DVD are ripped to ISO and I retain everything except subs and languages I don't speak. :-) The ASRock is the perfect set top front-end just like this device would be if it had the better CPU in it....
(geez this comment system is hinky!)
Overpriced for the spec. I mean this thing should be priced around $299. As with all Lenovo's product they get cheaper in a couple of week and with Lenovo CPP store it bound to hit less than $299.
I plan on using it as a HTPC and add it to my gigabyte network in my house in the bedroom. then I will use win 7 media center to stream everything to that puppy from my WHS, but when i saw this originally it said $350 not $400 so I might wait until it goes down or someone other than lenovo carries it on sale
Sucks that flash is CPU only. Makes these nettops complete fail.
used xbox > this.
Can someone answer this for me?
- I was told that the ION is just the Nvidia 9400M with an Atom chip.
But I was also told that the 9400M can't output analog video.
But isn't VGA/D-SUB an Analog connector/port?
The new MacBooks are unable to output analog video without a converter box because it uses 9400M.
Anybody have some information on this?
The XBMC guys are using the ASRock ION and one other - Zotec? Folks are using them with VGA so yes it CAN be done but I like my HDMI thanks. I wouldn't buy this without the dual core aTOM at that price!
I have had one of these for about a month.
they are not made by lenovo, just rebadged.
Mine was less than that, comes with dvi and can use the nvidia dvi to hdmi convertor to run 8.1 sound as well through your home theatre.
I run windows 7 media centre with a usb nova td HD twin tuner stick from hauppage. Performance is fin although a little choppy occasionally when recording HD and watching from my NAS drive. probably due to atom. fine most of the time though.
installed new zune software and indexed my music library on the nas to play/watch on the plasma. really nice and supoer smooth. not to mention a 40W power supply. Only 40W!!!
