Pre drops to $79.99 at Walmart

Hey, thought that $99.99 Amazon deal for a Palm Pre was really snazzy? Well today, Walmart appears to go one better by cutting the smartphone's price down to a staggering $79.99 (on contract and with mail-in rebate). If prices keep going this low, you can probably expect the Pixi to show up for about nothing (zero, zip, zilch) sooner rather than later. If you've been looking for a deal to get into the Pre, this is it... but too bad if you dropped $200 a few months ago.

I would have probably bought this already if it had more memory and/or a microSD slot. 8GB just isn't enough for me.

I'm more tempted now, though. Kinda want to look at the two upcoming Android phones at Sprint, too. Would like a keyboard, though.

I was at Bell today (yes, Canada) and while I was given a long sale schpeel by someone who loved his phone (the instore one was bricked and headquarters apparently has all the codes), he also gave me the name of a teacher I should take courses with but off topic now.

Long story short, he was authorized to offer the phone at 150 off sticker price for the final back to school sales. For those math illiterate people out there 200-150=50. I will be going back tomorrow and getting mine as it is only good for the end of September if that.

Could mean a 16GB version of the Pre is around the corner. There were reports that P120 and C40 part numbers that showed up on Sprint systems, C40's probably the Pixi and P120 could be an updated Pre.
