Dallas Cowboys HD scoreboard makes the Guinness Book of World Records

Guinness World Records to Recognize Dallas Cowboys and Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision for World's Largest Video Display
Four-Sided, High-Definition Screen Equivalent of 3,268 TVs Hangs Above Cowboys Stadium Playing Field
CYPRESS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitsubishi Electric gained yet another entry in the Guinness World Records book with the recognition of its revolutionary Diamond Vision video boards at Cowboys Stadium as the World's Largest High-Definition Video Display. The official certificate presentation will take place during a pre-game ceremony on September 28, just prior to the Cowboys vs. Carolina Panthers Monday Night Football game, which will be aired nationally on ESPN.
The world's first four-sided, center-hung, high-definition video display in a stadium consists of four Diamond Vision® LED video screens, with the two main sideline displays measuring 72 feet high by 160 feet wide, and two Diamond Vision® end-zone displays measuring 29 feet high by 51 feet wide. Weighing 600 tons, the screens are suspended 90 feet directly over the center of the playing surface and stretch from nearly one 20-yard line to the other.
With a total viewing area of 11,393 square-feet, the Diamond Vision® display is equal to 3,268 52-inch televisions, and has 10,584,064 LED lights.
"This was probably the most exciting project we've ever been involved with," said Mark Foster, general manager of Mitsubishi Electric's Diamond Vision Systems. "The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most innovative teams in the NFL, and their new stadium reflects that. These scoreboards and displays are the realization of the Cowboys' commitment to their fans and the sport. We are very proud that the Cowboys organization turned to Mitsubishi Electric to deliver their vision as part of this incredible project."
"We're extremely proud of our world-class Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision screen," said Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones. "We have designed everything about Cowboys Stadium to provide an unequalled experience for our fans, and this screen is the centerpiece of what we have created for them."
Mitsubishi Electric has now been recognized by Guinness World Records five times for its accomplishments, and the Cowboys' board is the fourth Diamond Vision screen to be honored by Guinness. The first came in August 2003, for the World's Longest Video Display for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong which was installed in August 2003. In March 2005, GWR recognized the Diamond Vision® LED display at Turner Field in Atlanta as the World's Largest High-Definition Television Screen, and in September 2005 the Mitsubishi Electric video board at the Japan Racing Association Tokyo Racecourse was certified as the World's Largest Television Display. In 1993, Mitsubishi Electric was recognized for designing and installing the World's Fastest Elevator - capable of traveling 750 meters per minute (approximately 28 miles per hour) - at the Landmark Tower in Yokohama, Japan.

Anyone know how much this display costs?
I don't know but it's going to be a bad investment if it keeps getting hit by footballs...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjx6vsR71sg
@.@ it says "please reconnect controller"
Dallas Cowboys also broke anothe recored which was looking like the biggest assholes on the planet by treating their new stadium and fans like shit by losing their first game at home.
How are those 1700 toilets treating you now?
A steal at $34 million
Right, $34 million which was MORE than the entire cost of Texas Stadium.
@sweet greggo
hmm more like over a billion for the stadium... so not quite
weems,
sweet greggo was right. Texas Stadium in Irving cost less than $34million. The new stadium in Arlington cost around $1billion.
720p or 1080p?
Dead Pixel.
4ft wide dead pixel.
gong hay fa choi
Someone is going to have one hell of a time trying to RMA that sucker back to Newegg. :P
To bad their QB still sucks.....
The look on Jerry Jones' face when the giants came back last Sunday with that amazing 2-minute offense was priceless. What a prefect way to open your 1.15 billion dollar stadium.
Go Big Blue! http://www.milkandcookies.com/link/91297/detail/
Yes... prefect.
Perfcet.
Too bad both the cowgirls and giants are gonna get owned by the eagles.
Okay, Romo did not have a good game, but Cowboys owned the Giants throughout the game. The eagles are terrible, McNabb's old arse cannot hold up and Kyle Kolb is philly's answer to Rex Grossman, and please don't bring up Vick.
A wooden nickel to any punter that hits that board, and I got a sack full of wooden nickels just don't think there that many punters that can kick it that high {and do their job of getting the ball down field}
GO COWBOYS!!
Really? You're going to use the excuse "despite us loosing the game, we totally outplayed you"?
All that counts is the W, bitch.
As Bill Burr stated last night, "... goto a football game to watch TV? I can do that from my living room". Though its a nice touch for the people in the nose bleeds.
You can't get a stadium's energy from a living room. Well... Not always anyways...
Yeehaw?
I guess this is the only award/trophy there going to win this year. Cowboys just suck. Cool scoreboard though. LOL!
And here I thought it was going to be the record for display that's been hit by a football the most times because some idiot put it in the center of the field hung low.
Loving that new "Show Press Release" button. Gorgeous.
why is it the Dallas cowboys neither of the stadiums have ever been Dallas, and i bet most of the players don't even live in dallas
The same reason the Giants and Jets play in New Jersey.
Because Dallas doesn't have the money to spend...taxes there are already ridiculous. Arlington on the other hand gets a lot of money from tourism (six flags over texas, hurricane harbor, the ballpark in arlington, etc...) so it made more sense.
Well the old Cowboys stadium in Irving, Texas was in Dallas county. It was less the 2 minutes away from the city of Dallas. Now Jerry World is in Arlington and out of Dallas county. This is because Dallas old Mayor, Mayor Miller, did not want to match the 900 million Jerry Jones paid for out of his pocket to have the new stadium built. So, Arlington voted and passed to pay the other 900 million to have the stadium built in Arlington. Yes, Arlington does have a lot of money coming in from tourists. The first Six Flags ever built is in Arlington, So it a big water park and the Rangers stadium. All 4 are built with in a mile from each other.
lol i know i live there, it made since for the last stadium since it was in Dallas county i guess
Seriously, if you wanted to watch a football game on a screen, I'd rather watch on my couch.
Also, it was great that the Gmen beat the Cowboys at their first season game there. GO GIANTS!!!
I went on a tour and they said it uses $300 per minute of electricity when all 4 sides are on. It's every bit as bright and clear as my Samsung DLP.
You'll probably be able to pick this TV up at Best Buy in a couple months for $1999.00
Finally something as big as Jerry Jones's ego.
I bet you could play a killer game of Duck Hunt on that thing.
Those pixels would probably be at least 1 sqft. Thats awesome HD for ya.
Easy there Cowboys...just give it time...Dubai will somehow find a way to top this.
Hate to spoil the fun here guys, but Barco actually has installed the largest video wall ever, almost 395 feet wide, of around 375 million pixels... in early 2000. These guys do very big stuff nicely hidden in mega control centers around the world, so not so newsworthy I guess.
Here's a link to a low res PDF with some pictures: http://www.barco.com/projection_systems/downloads/BCD_apl_telkom_l.pdf.
This monster shows applications, numerous videos and computer sources. Really impressive stuff.
Who cares about how the Cowboys play when Jerry Jones face is perpetually beautiful.
yeah jerry jones had it lowered because he couldnt see the whole thing from his suit
the move cost him about 2 million and now they have to move it back up
what a dousche
yea but can it run crys--
err, wait.
this makes the guinness book of world records? what happened to the days when guinness records actually meant something? like who grew the longest fingernail
The display cost 40 million dollars.
Wonder what this looked like on the Megatron screen - http://whattowhen.com/page/6/
The NFL's requirement is 85 feet.
