Production Canon EOS 7D video samples hit the web
We've already seen some video from a pre-production Canon EOS 7D, but it looks like it's hitting stores now, and this is the first video we've seen from a final retail unit. It's genuinely impressive, especially since filmmaker Dan Chung says most of it was shot at 1600 to 6400 ISO, but it's important to realize that he was also using some seriously expensive lenses, a specialized video viewfinder, a wide-angle mattebox to reduce lens flare, and a separate external microphone for audio. Was that enough responsible skepticism for you? Good, because we also think the 7D looks like it's going to rock, and we can't wait to try one out. Video after the break, along with a shot of Dan's video rig.

they're playing ball in a cup.
The blondie near the end says she used to charge to have her pics taken. Was she a model, pornstar or hooker?
The real question is- Does anyone care?
The real question is- What's the difference?
Here's one more video: http://www.vimeo.com/6487566
Wow, The Chinese drink Corona.
Is that because it tastes like the drinking water?
So we all decided we want cup and ball girl?
Very nice looking video, but the body and video specific lenses are a bit too rich for my blood (keen, but slightly inept amateur -- by no means a pro).
I think I'll stick with my plan of getting a Lumix GH1 (if I can find any in stock), and pocketing the considerable difference. For my needs, the GH1 is waaaaay better value for money.
Depends what you can get the GH1 for. Remember this camera has a bigger sensor and if you also do stills it will be a much better camera for that. You don't need all that other crap he has on the camera. There aren't any "video" lenses for the EOS system. At least not yet.
Very true Michael, very true.
A 7d currently will cost about 1500 quid for the body only. A GH1, on the other hand, can be picked up for about £1100 for the body and 14-140 (28-280 equiv.) lens. I'm not sure what an equivalent lens for the 7d would, but I doubt you'd get change from 500 quid. And even then, you'd probably miss out on the silent motor and variable aperture of the Lumix. Probably a bit faster though... So, we're talking about £800 more for something that a numpty like me would really get no benefit from. I don't have any EOS lenses already, so that's not an issue.
So, nice camera, but I still plan on getting the GH1.
So who is sexier her or the camera???? I know my choice!
That was nice, but have you seen this?
This is beautiful... "http://www.vimeo.com/6496808"
The video really does show an average night in a major Chinese city. There's lots of misinformed anti-China trolls on Engadget, but I can assure you it's a lot of fun, and there's nothing to worry about. I recognized everything shown.
As for the women. No she's not a model, a prostitute or an exception to the rule. Attractive women are a dime a dozen. Walk down the street and they surround you. Actually the Chinese women you see in TV shows can be somewhat plain. (getting on Chinese TV requires connections rather than any talent.)
The only bad part is leaving Asia; condemned to expensive beer, 9 to 5 hours and wide load asses once more.
It could be argued that ladies from Chong Qing and Si Chuan are the nicest, but I'll let the locals fight that amongst themselves.
What a way to generalize people. Good job. They are beautiful women everywhere in the world. Not just in specific areas.
I've been to China too (Shanghai). You're on crack.
Sexy young women don't just stand around playing ball and cup games as a rule. I'm not saying she's a prostitute, but there's a good chance she's there as a promotional item for the restaurant she is standing in front of or she's selling balls and cups.
I wonder why asian women are considered so exotic still. Nothing about their culture is too terribly different than white culture anymore. Even if the difference is slight people see a world of difference.
This video is effn awesome!! Everyone is just having a great time.
Nice video. The 35 mm f1.4L is one heck of a lens. I didn't have to read the article to figure out it was one of the lenses used. I'm sooo happy with mine. :-)
Cameras come and go, it's the glass that is the investment. The 7D with a 16-35L, 24-70L, 70-200L IS would be great for making home movies all the way up to filming wedding ceremonies, the sky is the limit. This camera and a 5D MKII are going to be in every wedding photographers kit, keep it coming Canon!
Those toys they are playing with are so fun!!! This 7d footage looks so much better than the KendamaUSA footage we shot

I am going to have to buy a 7d for our next video! Canon products never cease to amaze me!!
To those imbecilic morons and ignorant cretins who posted racist and sexist comments about the women in the video, I suggest you and I carry the conversation on a porn site where I can tell you about my fantasies about white women - or is 'Caucasian' the more political correct term?
