Thermaltake's brain-melting Level 10 PC chassis gets real, unboxed
Remember that Thermaltake enclosure that blew your mind back in March? Of course -- you're still recovering, after all. Fast forward to today, and that very case -- which had a hint of BMW influence, by the way -- has morphed into reality, and it's far and away one of the most fabulous cases we've ever seen. Amazingly, the finished product looks awfully similar to the concept, with each compartment boasting its own ventilation. There's room for pretty much anything you'd ever want (yes, even room for three Blu-ray writers), and of course, enough LEDs are included to light up the average night club. You should also know that the shipping container weighed 66 pounds and the chassis itself is probably larger than your eight year old, so unless you've got more square footage than you know what to do with, you're probably better off viewing the unboxing shots (there in the via link) from afar.

And so begins the end of the human race, for SKYNET has arrived
I can handle a bit of machine-led enslavement in exchange for those lovely curves.
This would have made a far more imposing (and believable) Turk 1 and 2 instead of the NAS that was used in the Terminator/Sarah Conner Chronicles. At any rate, the human race is doomed.
Finally a case that's not boring or old.
Yea... but making something like that without a gizz receptacle is an abomination. Guess that last HDD tray would have to be retroed.
NOT 700$ sexy.
D: !
After seeing it in proper scale, it's gargantuan, looks anything but sexy and is almost ugly. it was designed to be 3/4 the size they might have pulled it off.
Same issue as back then in March... that'll need a TON of cleaning. :(
Holy freaking hell. That thing is HUGE.
twss
I would still buy it in ten seconds. Sucks that i JUST bought a Haf 932, wish i would have waited and been able to buy this.
@God: This costs more than 5 times as much...
"...probably larger than your eight year old..."
they weren't kidding!
That's what she said.
It's probably bigger than raptor jesus.
That's what she said.
Looks amazing. A little pricier than I'd like, but hopefully we get what we pay for. :)
i've made do with a laptop for years now but still.....i think it might be time for a new rig!
I paid $350 about 8 years ago for an excellent, aluminum mini tower case from Lian-Li (8 internal 3.5 drives, 4 5.25 drives). I was thinking of reusing it for my next build, but this one may take the cake.
The $700 price tag is a bit steep and it seems a little tall for most applications/installations though.
A bit steep? That's a lot steep.
You can pretty much land a top of the line case today for $150. I could see this thing at $250 but not at 3x's that amount.
I don't think you can call a $150 case "Top of the Line" anymore.
A nzxt Panzerbox? An Antec p182 or nine hundred? All around 150 and seem pretty top of the line in their division to me. Sure you can pay 3x as much for one that's huge and has some more fans or a crazy shape, but is that really that much of an improvement?
You can also get a Cooler Master Cosmos or Cosmos S for that price
I'm still rocking the £17 xblade.
I'll wait for it to be on woot...
i'd rather have an ABS Canyon and $150
b u t didn't BMW design this case for thermaltake??? Every BMW owner paid alot for their beamer and this probably no exception.

@chris_kalan
Yes, you can get a top-of-the-line case for $150. What you can't get at that price is a very overpriced case (like the one in this article)
Holy crap, this "thing" is awesome.
Looks like they took the PS2's styling and added steroids.
$700 is more than how much the rest of my respectable gaming rig cost.
Can't be too respectable if it only cost $700
Yes it can. You don't need i7 and GTX280 SLI and 6GB of RAM to play games.
Wolfdales and GTX260s aren't exactly "respectable", assuming that particular quality is directly proportional to the size of your epeen.
@mason
You're right, but I'd say a system with an i7, GTX280 SLI, and 6GB of RAM is more respectable than whatever system he's running for $700...
Beautiful design, but farkin' huge. Still, I like it in an anti-nettop, anti-all-things-small-and-light kinda way.
BMW may have helped design the case but Disney helped with the flash intro music...
I love the case though and think there should be more unique/designer PC cases for retail sale.
But I still like the style of Mac Pro boxes. Simple yet functional. Handles are The Godsend. (Disclaimer: do not own Mac Pro.)
The 'Level 10' design is a nightmare for the dust cleaning. I would never get it on the ground alone. Unless of course it comes with specialized vacuum. And for the price it really should.
It boggles my mind that manufacturers still can't get around the main problem all PC owners eventually suffer from: the dust inside of the box.
To me personally Level 10 doesn't improve anything. Even manages to make some things worse (weight, space considerations).
is going to cost 350 to have it shipped to me.
Blue LEDS please!
Blue is sooo 2008. Red is the new blue.
green is the new red.
everyone's gonna ask you where you got those 'leet green LEDs.
That's why you get color changing LED's like the LED's found in Alienware laptops.
you noobs. Black LED's are the way to go. I don't mean blacklights. I mean LED's that luminate darkness... That's the ultimate.
"It's the weird colour scheme that freaks me. Every time I try to
operate one of these weird black controls, labelled in black on a
black background, a little black light lights up black to let me know
I've done it. What is this, some kind of galactic hyper-hearse?"

@Newone, I was seconds away from a Hitchhiker Reference
Mutated PS3 Slim
Outstanding.
