Thermaltake's brain-melting Level 10 PC chassis gets real, unboxed
Remember that Thermaltake enclosure that blew your mind back in March? Of course -- you're still recovering, after all. Fast forward to today, and that very case -- which had a hint of BMW influence, by the way -- has morphed into reality, and it's far and away one of the most fabulous cases we've ever seen. Amazingly, the finished product looks awfully similar to the concept, with each compartment boasting its own ventilation. There's room for pretty much anything you'd ever want (yes, even room for three Blu-ray writers), and of course, enough LEDs are included to light up the average night club. You should also know that the shipping container weighed 66 pounds and the chassis itself is probably larger than your eight year old, so unless you've got more square footage than you know what to do with, you're probably better off viewing the unboxing shots (there in the via link) from afar.

hmmm looks pretty sweet, but since its one of the first cases of this type of design, I'm going to wait until all the reviews of people that have had this for 6+ months to come out to know if this case really is practical
That would be pretty cool to have. I'll stick with my Lian-Li for now. $250 for this case and it's on its 3rd rebuild/upgrade in 6 years. If that thing really costs $700, it'd better be able to withstand 10-15 years of upgrades to be worth it. (imagine what the system running in that would be 15 years from now....)
My god that's ugly.
here here.
Here? As in: you have one right there?
Beautiful. Well, except for the price tag.
said the guy with apple/bmw avatar.
Just a waste of money..
PS2 super edition
It's huge, but it certainly looks like it is a keeper for the ages. It would be cool to have more images of the compartments fully exposed, rather than just cracked open a bit. Guess we'll have to wait until October to see the nitty gritty details.
[Begins to clear deskspace for it...]
The case may be good in terms of cooling, but I do not find it 'beautiful' from a design standpoint. The promo site is also a mess with some really awful sound.
That's a sweet looking case. I'm about due to retire my Cosmos case and build a new rig. This will fit the bill perfectly.
Sweet, can't wait to put my micro-ATX system in it....
More small area's to collect dust... Great!
A case shouldn't cost more than a gpu + cpu...
Get a Core 2 Extreme and an Asus Mars then.
ASUS MARS? like the most pointless video card in existence? Barely outperforms a GTX 295...when it works?. Even a single 5870 makes it look bad, especially with next gen flagship cards around the corner there's nothing going for that card except it's epic folding and futuremark scores but for $1000 who'd buy that is what I'd like to say but some idiot on youtube bought two of them to put SLI config, come find out they don't scale at all (a second card is almost worthless). That Asus Mars?
A very cool design and I like the idea of the individual compartments. I wish I had something impressive enough to do on my PC that I could justify having one of these. Like controlling a space station or curing cancer.
get cracking?
Very nice how much =D
$700?? hahahaha! thats a lot of full atx cases I could buy.
For $700.00 I could have someone machine this hand made
Yeah a poor little Chinese boy in Shangai
Iam assuming the hd 5870x2 cant squeez into this baby?
Nice!
With so many deep grooves, cleaning it is going to be a pain in the butt. Esp. for ones who have issues with dust accumulating all over their electronics :(.
This case is going to have issues. The thermal properties are set a lot like the Zalman silent cases. Gamers and heavy graphics users will end up slagging their graphics cards and possibly their motherboards. Overclockers will also have the same issues but this really isn't an overclocker's case at all. In terms of accessibility, the level 10 is about as nice as the Zalman 500AF cases but I still think ThermalTake is lacking proper cooling for the usage they plan it for.
Maybe if I raked in a couple of hundred grand a year I can then see myself spending that much on just a case, but as it stands, I'll admire it from afar.
I'm putting an atom processor in mine and bypassing the LED's for X-RAYS !!!!
doesn't look like theres much room for my radiator/pump I may have to buy one of these though
Frack. I would go up to $500 for that case. $1000 is WAY too much though.
One thing. This was obviously designed to be a portable system. So why doesn't it have some sort of jack on the opposite side to place a 17" monitor.
Portable? Did you miss "You should also know that the shipping container weighed 66 pounds and the chassis itself is probably larger than your eight year old."? That is the opposite of portable
Umm... I think they're targeting this for business users. This would look great in my office, its a bit over kill, but it would turn heads.
"but it would turn heads"
Yeah, the Accountants' would do an exorcist when he saw the invoice.
That thing looks like it would have been cool in 1995. i cant imagine wanting to buy something as bulky as that.
Where do you position this relative to one's desk, monitor, keyboard, etc.?
Not only is the price impractical, one also needs to consider purchasing a new desk and chair just to accommodate this thing. Maybe also need to move to a new room so as to fit this thing?
what... no usb 3.0
That is one sexy looking computer, I wouldn't mine having one even though its GINORMous...
as cool as this is, i like being able to look through my rigs case window and see all the cool components basking in blue LED glory, not my components boxed away in separate compartments all lonely and what not
If this really has a $700 tag on it.. it's pretty much pointless.
Looking at the pics, i can guess that this thing will be garbage to the user when it can't fit his X2 GPU or Ultra PSU, which are way bigger than the psu compartment in that monster.
Don't get me wrong, this box looks OMG freakin amazing, but with this price and the possibility to not be able to fit some things - makes it kinda meh..
Why do people put such price tags on "custom" stuff.. with a $700 budget you can build yourself a case that will be way way more custom than this, assuming you have the skills and imagination to do it :)
I prefer to buy a 30$ case and a nikon 5000d
What a sexy tower! :)
It looks loud...but It is handsome
Daaamn!!
No fan?
